Hello, 2026 🎉

We’re ringing in the New Year with pure joy, Henri Dauman–style.

This photograph…Anna Moffo at her NYC apartment, 1958…captures a moment when music filled the room, friends danced without inhibition, and optimism lived in every gesture.

As we step into 2026, we’re inspired by this spirit of connection, elegance, and exuberance. May the year ahead bring you reasons to gather, to celebrate, and to dance…whether in your living room or out in the world.

With gratitude, hope for a bright year ahead, & Looking Up…

The 👁️‍🗨️ of the Assignment

On what would have been John Coltrane’s 99th birthday, we revisit the Randall’s Island Jazz Festival, NYC, 1960, through the masterful lens of Henri Dauman. Assigned to capture the event, Dauman shot 18 rolls of film, immortalizing a constellation of performers…many of whom, like Coltrane, became legends of jazz.

In these two frame-studies, Coltrane’s intensity is palpable: the grip on his saxophone, the exhale shaping each note, the light dancing across the instrument. He’s not just playing—he’s sculpting the air, commanding the moment with soul and precision. “A single photograph can be a whole story,” Dauman once said, revealing the soul of his subjects.

Celebrate the passion, discipline, and relentless curiosity of a jazz icon. Which frame draws you in?…the raw, full-throttle energy or the quiet, intimate focus? Comment below 👇🏻

📸 October 1958: Yves Saint Laurent, just 21 years old, stands poised in the spotlight of fashion history. In Paris, he had just unveiled his debut Spring ’59 collection for the House of Dior—the groundbreaking Trapeze line that would seal his reputation as a prodigy.

Slide 1: a rare moment behind the scenes, captured by Henri Dauman on contact sheet-YSL at a Dior event in NYC, riding the wave of his first major success.

Slide 2: a quiet, cinematic image on the streets of Seventh Avenue Manhattan. It was YSL’s first visit to New York, and Dauman himself a rising talent in the world of photojournalism was there to document it.

This photograph of YSL on Seventh Avenue now appears in the exhibition “YSL et la Photographie” at , where 80 works chart the designer’s life through the lens of iconic photographers.

✨ A meeting of two visionary talents, both at the start of defining careers.

Joy and Resilience in the Face of Adversity

This powerful photograph by Henri Dauman captures children in Harlem playing in the spray of a fire hydrant, with one boy silhouetted in midair, leaping through the backlit fountain of water. On the surface, it is a moment of pure joy and freedom, but the image also carries profound symbolism.

Today, as the fires in Los Angeles leave a trail of destruction and heartache, we reflect on how water—so essential to life—can be a symbol of both relief and resilience. Just as this photograph reminds us of the stories and struggles behind every urban scene, so too does each tragedy, like the devastating fires, hold countless untold stories of loss, courage, and hope.

To every person facing hardship—whether displaced by fire, wrestling with personal loss, or simply trying to endure—we see you. Behind every hurt is a story worth knowing, a life worth honoring. May we all find ways to jump through our own fountains of adversity and emerge renewed.
