This morning’s (3/9/26) sunrise at the Savannah wildlife refuge! Never thought I’d ever catch sunrises. The fog wasn’t really working in my favor this morning.

Amazed that I could just drive up to this guy Monday (3/2) at the Savannah wildlife refuge!

I was very interested in the headstones that I came across, so I googled some info:
Victorian Influence & Wealth: During the 1800s, especially the Victorian era (1837–1901), elaborate monuments became a way for families to showcase social status and express deep, public grief. Wealthier individuals could afford intricate, personalized sculptures and long epitaphs, while others had simpler, or no, markers.
Material Limitations: Early 1800s stones were often softer marble, allowing for detailed, intricate carvings. By the late 1800s, harder stone like granite became more popular, which, while more durable, was more difficult to carve, resulting in less detailed, simpler designs.
Symbolism & Custom: Elaborate stones often reflected personal beliefs, incorporating symbols (like weeping willows or urns) that represented themes like mourning or resurrection.
