Big Announcement 📣👏🏼
I can hardly believe that we’re already a couple months into the new year! 2025 was quite the year, full exciting new things for our family. We welcomed our fourth and final baby in August - our little Arbor was just what we needed to make our family complete. Nothing could have prepared me for the bittersweet feelings that came along with knowing that the child bearing years of my life have come to a close.
In September, we went to court and Cedar was adopted! After nearly 9 years we were able to make it official. Cedar is still soaking in all the excitement of standing before the judge and telling him that she wanted Kyle to be her dad for real. We celebrated the momentous occasion with a party surrounded by all of our closest and dearest family and friends.
Having a baby right before the fall busy season made things look a little different from years prior. I was able to cut back at work just enough to be able to really enjoy my favorite time of year and soak in all the joys of having a newborn. I was able to gain some perspective surrounding the passion I have for my photography business as well as my love for being a mom. It did take me some time to realize that the slow-down is okay. Quite honestly, for a while, I felt like I was missing out. Turning down inquiries was SO difficult. I have a very hard time saying “no”, especially when I want to take ALL the pictures. But slow-down was healthy and really made me appreciate my business all the more. Finding my mom/wife/homemaker/school teacher/business owner balance was and is challenging at times. I’ve made the decision to cut back a tiny bit for the next couple years while my girls are young. I don’t get this time back and being present and more in the moment is very important to me. To be clear, I am NOT quitting or shutting down my business. This just means that I’m going to be a little more selective about the work I take on. At this stage of my life, I can no longer accommodate last minute inquiries. As much as I would love to get everyone that reaches out to me on my books, it doesn’t align with goals to be a more “in the moment” mom.
Now for big news (pause for effect 😆)
We’re moving! Waiting for Cedar’s adoption to go through was the final piece that needed to fall into place in order to make this transition. It was always our plan to move west to be closer to my grandma but we were unsure of when this would take place. After spending much time intentionally praying about the move and whether or not the time was right, we strongly feel as though God has paved the way for us and it is time. Savage has been our home for nearly a decade but we are excited to start this next chapter in the Gallatin Valley.
As for my business, I have lots of weddings and other sessions on my books for summer here in Sidney that I am SO excited about. In addition, I have carefully set aside 1-2 weeks each month of the year beginning the last week of May that I will be taking bookings here on the eastern side of the state. If you’ve been wanting to get on my books, please don’t hesitate to reach out!
My sincerest thank you to every one of you that has booked with me, followed, liked, shared my posts, and referred your friends and family to me. I so look forward to serving you in 2026!
❤️ Emma
