Poppy is 6 months old today! I cannot believe how fast this is going! Slow down, Pops!

I haven’t taken many “professional” photos of her because - she refuses to sit still (unless it’s in her hummingbird window). She is always on the move, getting into trouble, and stealing clean socks. She cannot be bossed around. She is absolutely the most independent and confident puppy I have ever raised - so photos are truly on her terms - and never for more than 45 seconds. This was what we could manage in a total of roughly 20 frames.

Joey jumped up to pose because she is always camera ready and was frustrated that I wasn’t asking her to pose.

Please hear me when I say this; There are no rules when it comes to “Newborn” portrait timing.

Some clients choose to have a session when their baby is tiny, tiny, tiny - some choose to wait until Mom’s are feeling a little more like themselves and have recovered more from birth - some babies need some time to get over some health hurdles. There are no rules.

Newborn sessions don’t have to happen within a certain time - they can happen when you want them to!

One of the major perks (at least in my mind) to waiting a bit for your in home newborn session - is that your baby is finally starting to really LOOK like themselves. Their features are more distinct, they are a little less “smooshy” and they are a lot more alert. So you are able to get true interactions, expressions and personality.

So the next time someone says it’s too late for them to have newborn portraits done - tell them I say - Respectfully, you’re wrong 😉

What a perfect day for Lauren and Patrick at The Lake George Club. Filled with genuine emotion, beautiful light and a boat ride on The Queen to cap it all off. I can’t wait to share more from this day.

Poppy turned 4 months old yesterday 😭 She’s growing up too fast and clocked in today at 6.4lbs! It’s hard to believe when I brought her home 2 months ago she was only 2.3lbs. Just a tiny little nugget.

She is very happy, sassy, funny and confident. She is easily the most independent puppy I’ve ever raised and we haven’t found much she is afraid of. And she loves birding now, too! She’s started laying in the hummingbird window because of course she would. Stop growing, Pops!

I took these film photos on VERY expired Ilford Black and White film, 4 yeas ago - and never developed them because life just kept distracting me. That’s how it goes with film sometimes.

This particular film was leftover from college- it expired in 2008 - these photos were taken in 2022 - on a mostly broken film camera that was my own mother’s in high school. Just a bit of an experiment on a summer day in Lake George to see how the film would perform that far down the road.

When I got the negatives back I was so excited - it’s fun to see these now especially because I had forgotten wha I took photos of. 2 of these dogs have since crossed the rainbow bridge. I’m so happy I took these.

Might have to mess around with the remaining expired rolls this summer.
