April 15th was one of those moment's that leaves a mark on your heart. I had the pleasure of witnessing the Honor Flight of West Central Florida Mission 52 Welcome Home - a celebration filled with gratitude, pride and emotion.
Watching these veterans return to cheers, handshakes, hugs, and heartfelt "thank yous" was extremely powerful. Their faces lit with joy and surprise, some teary eyed, as they entered the terminal. I felt deeply privileged to document some of those moments for their families.
These heroes deserve to be remembered and celebrated-not just for their service, but for the lives they have touched along the way.
This experience holds a place deep in my heart, as I once shared an Honor Flight trip with my own father, a WWII Marine, shortly before he passed. Walking beside him through his own Welcome Home, seeing the way it lit something inside him, hearing stories he had never previously shared, and watching the intense pride shining in his eyes - it's a memory I will carry with me always.
Capturing these veterans and their homecoming, I saw reflections of that same pride and emotion in every tear, every smile, every kiss and salute. It reminded me of how important it is to welcome these heroes while we still can, and how photographs can preserve moments that words often can't.
Welcome home, heroes. And thank you, for your service, your stories and your sacrifices.
