🌿 From Empty Nester to Empowered Healer: My Reinvention After 50

Does this sound familiar?

You spend years—decades even—dedicating yourself to a career, to your family, to helping others heal. Then one day, it all changes. The kids leave the nest. The world shifts under your feet. Your industry decides you’re replaceable. And life? It doesn’t come with a warning label.

I was an occupational therapist for 25 years. I worked with care, passion, and a deep commitment to my clients. But as insurance companies prioritized cutting costs over quality care, seasoned therapists like me were replaced by newer grads—often without the proper training or experience. I found myself edged out of the very profession I had poured my life into.

And just as I was navigating this professional crisis, inflation hit. Hard. Housing costs in my area nearly doubled in less than a year. I was an Empty Nester, no longer needed at home or, it seemed, at work. I had to start over.

And starting over at 50+? It’s not for the faint of heart.

But what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, right?

I became certified in Manual Lymphatic Drainage and combined it with my experience in hand therapy and holistic healing. I stepped out on faith and started my own business—serving people not just as an OT, but as a guide in detoxification, scar therapy, and natural healing.

Then something beautiful happened.

I found a wellness center filled with kind, like-minded people who welcomed me. I started connecting with clients who were seeking exactly what I had to offer. And through one of these amazing new friends, I was introduced to all-natural, aloe-based skin care and makeup that aligns perfectly with my values—and I became a consultant.

Now I do work I love. I help people heal. I share tips for healthy living. I reflect daily on gratitude and growth. I’ve started creating videos—not just for clients, but for anyone who’s ready to feel better, live healthier, and start over—no matter their age.

Yes, I had to rent a room from an old friend to make it work. Yes, I’ve faced fear, doubt, and loneliness. But I refuse to let life break me down.

Instead, I’m building something new—day by day, client by client, video by video.
