My best friend agreed to tag along with me to the in San Francisco to photograph and record an engagement. Neither of us had ever been there, so we were in unfamiliar territory. But, this proposal meant so much more to both of us…
She and I both get our grays covered and hair done by the same amazing woman, and the girl being proposed to is her stepdaughter, Alexis. I’ve personally known and been photographing Alexis for about 10 years. I’ve watched her grow into the most amazing human, graduate high school and college, and start grad school on her journey to become a veterinarian. Since about the time I met her, she had Hunter by her side. They officially started dating on the day he proposed TEN years ago. IN THE 7th GRADE. They never wavered, went to colleges in different states, and still chose each other along every obstacle and hurdle they faced. It’s one of the best love stories I’ve ever seen.
Alexis had no idea this was coming. Completely shocked, which we always hope for as photographers. Hunter and I were in communication leading up to the big moment at the night life event they host on Thursdays (highly recommend for the small price of $25 plus two free drink tickets btw) and knew where he wanted to do it. But when we got there, the amphitheater seating facing the tank was full and a performance was about to happen. Poor Hunter got probably 67 texts from me changing plans, moving them back, adding backups, sharing locations, all while being so afraid Alexis would recognize me. Luckily, it all worked out as planned, and it went off without a hitch. Even in complete darkness with no flash photography allowed so as not to scare the fish.
So grateful to my best friend for coming with me to film it for our friend and hair master, and to this family for being apart of so many of their milestones. I needed some positivity this week y’all, and they over-delivered.
