Once upon a time in a place not so far away, a little girl laid quietly on a dock gazing at the stars twinkling in the milky way, dancing in her eyes, filling them with promise. Life surrounded her, she found beauty in the unexpected places, the tiniest of detail. The way the marsh smelled in the summer, pungent in her nostrils. The sparkle of the dragonfly, a brilliant emerald head standing out a

s it hovers over the ground. The way the wind felt on her skin, slick with sweat and heat from the sun. How the rocks, hard and sometimes sharp felt on her toughened bare feet. Her lungs burning for air as she would take off and run as fast as she could. She noticed these things and they made her happy. Always noticing the little details, this is what makes something beautiful. The delicate way a flower petal falls from the center, the colors of the butterfly enjoying a nectar treat, it’s bright orange contrasting against the blue sky and white petal. The way the waves leave the sand as it rushes out from under her sitting in the surf. The little holes the sand crabs make as they quickly burrow in, such perfect circles. The delicate web, wet with dew sparkling in the morning sun. The sound of the wind rustling the leaves as the birds sing their songs. Don’t look so far for you miss the beauty which is life, simple, fine details. They are each perfect.
