I'm a firm believer that you can have BOTH.

The beautiful, everyone-looking-at-the-camera photo that ends up framed on your wall.

AND the belly laughs, the little hands wrapped around yours, and all the perfectly imperfect moments in between.

I love a gorgeous, classic family portrait. Truly. I'll probably be the first person telling you to print it BIG. 😂

But some of my favorite images happen in the seconds after I tell everyone they can relax.

When the kids start being silly. When Dad scoops somebody up. When Mom forgets about the camera for a minute.

Those are the photos that make a gallery feel like YOUR family.

And I want you to have all of it. 💕

You'd think being a family photographer would make preparing for my OWN family photos a breeze. 😂

But I'm still a mom trying to coordinate outfits, get two little boys ready, and make sure we're all out the door on time!

Being on both sides of the camera has taught me a few things, though.

A little preparation goes a long way, but my biggest priority is making sure the whole experience is FUN.

I want the gorgeous, frame-worthy family portrait just as much as you do. But I also want the giggles, the snuggles, and those sweet little moments in between.

And that's exactly what I want for every family I photograph. 💕

You’re not just choosing a photographer. You’re choosing what it feels like to be photographed.

Of course you should love the way your photographer sees people and the way their work looks... But I don’t think that should be the only thing you choose them on.

Ask what the experience is actually like.

Are they communicative? Do they make the process feel clear? Do they know your names when you show up? Are they patient with your kids? Are they fun? Do they notice when a child needs a break instead of asking them to stand still for ten more minutes? Do they move things along?

Do they make you feel awkward, or do they make you forget you’re being photographed? Because all of that ends up in the pictures too!

I think people sometimes separate the final gallery from the experience that created it, but they’re tied together more than we realize.

You should love the photos, absolutely. But you should also like being there.

My favorite kind of client is the one who plays with their kids.

The one who knows exactly how to make them giggle. The dad who starts tossing somebody in the air. The mom who gets down in the sand with them. The family who forgets for a minute that they’re even being photographed.

That’s the good good.

I can pose you. I can fix your hair. I can tell you where to stand and where the light looks best. But the little things that are uniquely yours? The inside jokes, the way your kids climb all over you, the things that make them light up?

That’s the part I want most.

There are a lot of little decisions happening behind the scenes of a family session that I hope you never have to think about.

That’s actually one of my favorite parts of this job. I want you to feel like you showed up, hung out with your family for a while and somehow ended up with really beautiful pictures.

If I’m doing my job well, most of the work should feel invisible to you.

I obviously direct a lot during a session. I’m watching light, posing, hands, hair, backgrounds, who I’m missing and whether everyone actually looks like themselves.

But there’s another part of my brain watching for what happens when nobody thinks we’re making a picture.

Those few seconds between setups are where so much of your actual family sneaks in. I think that’s part of why I tend to overshoot a little. 😂 I know the photograph I planned is coming, but I also know there might be something better right before it.

Take everyone's sunglasses off in the car 20 minutes before you arrive at the beach. It feels backwards, but keeping them on until you step onto the dunes creates two problems you will notice immediately in your gallery!

First, your eyes need time to adjust to Gulf Coast light. If you pull sunglasses off right as you step onto the sand, your pupils are wide open. Everyone spends the first ten minutes squinting into the dunes or watering up before their eyes
settle.

Second, tight frames leave little red indentations right across the bridge of your nose that take fifteen minutes to fade in the Florida heat.

The fix is simple. Once you buckle everyone in for the drive down 30A, toss the sunglasses into the console and let your eyes naturally adapt to the afternoon brightness.

But don't worry, you don't have to have it all figured out before we meet! I'll help you plan this, from wardrobe textures and tide timing to the small logistics on the sand, because photos should not feel like one more thing you have to manage on vacation.

Your only job is to love on your people. We'll make it feel easy!

The hardest part of family photos shouldn't be the actual hour we spend together.

I tell my families these exact things the second we meet at the beach because I want you to stop managing and start being present. If you're worrying about where your phone is or if your toddler is behaving, it shows up in the photos.

My job is to handle the chaos, the groupings, and the kid-wrangling. Your only job is to love on your people and enjoy the sunset.

A well-designed room can still feel unfinished if the people you love most only live inside your camera roll.

Most moms I talk to want their home to feel warm and intentional, but the thought of measuring empty walls, choosing frames, and matching room tones usually means the digital files stay tucked away on a phone forever.

I do things differently. When we work together, I guide the entire process from planning through our private gallery reveal. We keep your actual home in mind before we even step onto the sand, so the finished pieces feel natural in your living spaces.

The deeper purpose is simple: helping families get their images off their phones and into something they can hold, see, and pass down.

You do not have to have it all figured out before you reach out. I help with outfits, timing, location, and the artwork plan.

I get the "warning" email at least once a week. It usually says something like: "I am so sorry, but my toddler is in a stage where he will not let me put him down!"

I want you to know that when I read that, I am not worried. I am actually a little relieved. When your child is buried in your neck or wrapping themselves around your leg, they are handing me the kind of connection that is impossible to fake. That is where the actual story lives!

My job is to lead the session so you can just be their mom. You don't have to apologize for them being little, and you definitely don't have to manage their moods. I have that part covered.

If you have been putting off photos because you are waiting for a 'calmer' season, this is your permission to just let them be small.
