The one where I get to share that my sister is going to be Mommy to a precious baby boy and I’m going to be an AUNT!

It’s always the greatest honor to document and share in life’s most beautiful moments, but when I get to use this gift for my own family’s moments, moments that I’ve witnessed prayers poured out over and hearts and hands held out before Him for years, I’m certain my own heart is going to burst. I can’t wait to watch their story unfold as they raise this sweet boy in the coming years.

And just like that, I’m making client calls and scheduling jobs while simultaneously waiting on the arrival of our second baby and I’m immensely thankful for this life we’ve built.

Running a business as a Mom looks vastly different than I imagined. There’s a constant demand for flexibility, shifting schedules around, asking for help to swap hats for an afternoon or squeeze in one more hour of work, but it’s also the unwavering fulfillment of being home with my babies, not having to wonder who’s raising them, and closing the laptop when I need to just to curl up on the couch and hold them close, even the one still currently in my belly. Thank you, Lord — and thank you to all of you. You keep showing up here, making that call to schedule, and believing in this dream for over 13 years.🤍

As hot as it’s been the last few weeks, don’t let it deter you from booking that session! The great thing about the long days this time of year means the best light is late afternoon — which means we’re shooting your session during the time of day that it starts to cool down.

I know the tendency is panic when the humidity is at an all time high, but stay in the A/C until the last minute, bring water and a fan, take time for a few breaks during your session, and bring the men an extra shirt just in case. Typically you end up over-prepared and the cool of the afternoon sets in just in time!

Much of yesterday was spent planning and responding to inquiries — days like this make me thankful and excited for the opportunities ahead.

A few reminders: I will be on maternity leave August through tentatively the first of November. I will be sure to announce when I am back and booking portrait sessions again. I have limited availability between now and August so please reach out if you’re thinking of booking a session! Creativity has been flowing and I’d love to have you on my books before the arrival of our second babygirl!

With limited availability, I am currently booking 2027 weddings! I will only be taking on a select few weddings throughout next year to ensure each client receives my full attention, while balancing time for raising our girls. Texture and good floral design — two main sources of inspiration that help me create images that 𝑚𝑜𝑣𝑒 you. You know, the ones that really make you 𝑓𝑒𝑒𝑙 something. The ones you come back to again and again because they hold such beauty in a world that sometimes makes it difficult to find. These are the images that I can just sit with for a while.
