Five simple ways to include your toddler in your newborn session 🤍

Welcoming a new baby is a big transition for your toddler too. Including them in your session helps tell the full story of your growing family and creates meaningful images.

Here are a few gentle, toddler-friendly ways we can do that:
1. Let them lead.
We follow their cues and capture natural moments instead of forcing poses.
2. Keep it playful�Snuggles, kisses, or a simple game can bring out genuine smiles and connection.
3. Give them a role�Being a “big helper” or “baby’s protector” helps them feel proud and included.
4. Take breaks�We keep things relaxed so they can step away and return when ready.
5. Capture the in-between�The sweetest moments often come from simple curiosity—peeking at baby or holding a tiny hand.

These sessions aren’t about perfection—they’re about connection, love, and the start of your new chapter together.

One little reminder for new and expecting moms: I know it’s hard to think beyond the newborn days when you’re still preparing for baby’s arrival. And while those early weeks are so important to preserve, there is another stage that I absolutely love photographing.

Sitter sessions have become one of my very favorite milestones.

Somewhere between newborn and first birthday, babies transform almost overnight. They’re discovering their toes, reaching for toys, giggling at familiar faces, studying the world around them, and absolutely lighting up when they see their parents. And of course—the sitting stage itself is pure magic.

Their personalities begin to shine. The smiles become intentional, the laughter comes easily, and those sweet expressions change by the minute.

It’s such a fleeting season, and one that often gets overlooked while planning for newborn photos and first birthdays.

If you’ve never considered a sitter session, I truly believe it’s one of the most joyful milestones to document.

July 5th: Happy Halloween, apparently. 👻🎃
A friend sent me a meme this morning with a little ghost announcing that since it’s July 5th, we’ve officially moved on to the next holiday season. And honestly? It feels about right.
We spend all year hopping from one milestone to the next—summer vacations, back-to-school shopping, football weekends, pumpkin patches, holiday cards—and before we know it, another year has quietly slipped by.
Somehow we’re already at the midpoint of summer, and I’m beginning to hear from families thinking ahead to fall portraits.
No rush (I’m personally holding onto pool days, popsicles, and late sunsets for as long as possible), but if a fall session is on your mind—especially if weekends work best for your family—it’s never too early to reach out. Those dates have a way of disappearing almost as quickly as July turns into… Halloween. 😉🍂
