Warbird Photos Aviation Photography was started in late 2002 to showcase the aviation photography work of Britt Dietz Since then the website has grown to feature many thousands of aviation photos from airshows, military bases, museums, and more throughout the west coast of the United States. Britt is one of the volunteer photographers for the world famous Planes of Fame Air Museum (Chino, Californ

ia) and Lyon Air Museum (Orange County, California) and is often going up for air to air photography all over Southern California. His work has been featured in magazines, books, newspapers, calendars, online, and much more world-wide.

North American B-25J Mitchell 'Tondelayo' from the Collings Foundation blasts out of John Wayne Airport, Orange County during a tour stop at Lyon Air Museum a number of years ago. The aircraft turned early from the runway in order to avoid noise-abatement rules at the airport. Made for dramatic angles as they banked!

Gone but not forgotten... Boeing B-17G Flying Fortress 'Liberty Belle' as seen here making a pass with pyro smoke at the Nellis Air Force Base Airshow in 2007 (almost 20 years ago!). She is currently being rebuilt from what was left after the fire and other B-17 parts.

I had the opportunity yesterday to capture three classics... all from the 'Golden Age of Flight' in the 1930s. The Fairchild 24-C8F Argus, Beech D17S Staggerwing, and Boeing P-26A Peashooter over Lake Matthews, CA, during the early evening. A difficult shoot with all the variances of speed here, but a fun formation!

Saying goodbye... yesterday, the final flight of the USMC McDonnell Douglas AV-8B Harrier II took place at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, N.C., in a special sundown ceremony. I'll miss seeing this unique aircraft around the airshow circuit and at various bases. It was always a staple of the MAGTF (Marine Air Ground Task Force) demos.
Here's a look at some of my favorite Harrier shots over the last decade of its service. Semper fi, Harrier!
