Finally got to play around with my new zoom lens. I did not realize that it would not mount to my tripod, but I still wanted to receive this moment, so I just held it on my tripod. I was driving between Clines Corners and Lamy, and LOVED seeing the snow moving on to the mountains and the windmill staying calm and still. I loved how the moment showed light and shadow from the sun and clouds while a snowstorm raged on in the background. May you be blessed by this moment.

I received this moment last year after preaching at FUMC Las Vegas, NM. I've grown up driving past Hermit's Peak 1-2 times a year my whole life on the way to camping at a campground between Mora and Angel Fire. I decided to try to get closer to the peak and ran across this forest road to receive this moment.

Driving between my hometown and Santa Fe by myself allows me to stop along the road and receive some moments I've noticed for years, going back home to TX, and then back to my home in Santa Fe. This one I've seen so many times, and yep, it always made me smile, and that made me happy. So, I wanted to honor all those artists who wanted to make their mark in the middle of nowhere.

Hello, sweet photography family. Hope you all are well. This received moment is from Meditation Point on the road to Los Alamos, NM. I've been patiently waiting for the monsoon season to kick in and we've been blessed with some rain and snow before the season starts. When I reached the Meditation Point it had a little bench for people to sit on. The wind was crazy and the rain was moving in fast, and I LOVED it! In the distance, the snow was falling on the mountain and the desert was opening up its arms to receive the rain. The moment was such a wonderful time with God. God directed my eyes to a single flower in front of me and then the melting snow-capped mountains in the distance that were receiving a spring snowfall.

I love the changing of seasons. When it seems like the weather can't make up its mind, but in reality I think the weather is simply playing with the earth. Maybe, when we go through the changing seasons in our lives we can take note that it could be an opportunity for play and not fretting.

I'd wanted to go into the mountains all winter to see and enjoy the aspen trees in the snow. Sadly, I didn't make it up there in time, but I did have a wonderful hike amid an aspen grove. The aspen tree is by far my favorite of the trees. I love how when we see a single tree, it is the entire grove that is one single organism. I love the imagery that the aspen tree looks like a single tree but is completely connected to the rest. I feel like our individual lives are the same, we are actually all connected to each other, God, and all creation through the grace and love of God.

I love this received moment, not only because it has a twin aspen tree in the frame, but because there is a second twin hidden in the moment.

While I might not call it a “show” with only two photos on display, I’m still so honored that Santa Fe Baked & Brew is gracious enough to support local artists and willing to show and sell my contemplative photography. Even more importantly, they allow people to take my brochure that explains how to view art and the world around us in a contemplative way. I pray these received moments by me are a blessing to all those who look up to receive them, as well.
