A quick session with Paige K. in my photo studio on a Saturday. Experimenting with a black acrylic reflector and using the white studio wall as a large reflector; I shot three strobes into the wall behind me. When I zoomed into her eyes I could even see my silhouette in the catch light.

Only pictures I am taking these days are products - small bottles and vials for stuff like CBD creams. And hats - shot a bunch of hats for Buell. Here's my basic setup for those e-commerce style shots.

* Nikon D850 with 28-70 f2.8 lens
* Capture 1 Pro software to capture the image
*Old MacPro (2011) with second monitor
* Einstein 640 flash in Octobox as back light (for white background)
* 2nd Einstein 640 flash in a stripbox for a nice side light.
* The two black cards prevent too much back light from entering the lens and softening the image.
* Not shown - additional white card reflectors as needed for fill light.

Usually take multiple images and overlay them in Photoshop.

Mainstage, Theater Arts Center (UCSC)
Presented by:
Theater Arts Department

Written and directed by Kirsten Brandt
20th anniversary production of the Sledgehammer Theatre event

Haunted by the premature passing of her mother, Ph.D. candidate Mary Frankenstein embarks on a quest to conquer death. Fueled by a relentless ambition, Frankenstein immerses herself in the studies of biotechnology and ancient alchemical riddles to bring forth a “monstrous” creation. This newly abandoned Mary The Creation must learn the harsh realities of living in contemporary society while plagued by the memories of the seven dead women who make up her body. All the while, novelist Mary Shelley floats in and out of her tale as the complexities of her own life rage out of control. This media-rich riff on the Frankenstein legend shines a harsh light on nature vs. nurture and our ethical responsibilities to what we create.

Brandt directed The Thinning Veil, A Dream Play, and Machinal at UC Santa Cruz. She recently directed The Comedy of Errors for Shakespeare Santa Cruz.

Presented by the UC Santa Cruz Theater Arts Department. Originally produced by San Diego’s Sledgehammer Theatre.

a little tilty action. How is she going to get out of this spin alive (and not kill me too!).

Spent a productive and interesting afternoon with Erin Carey in my studio. She brought her giant ring (it's called a cyr) and spun around and around -- seriously alarmed me a couple of times. Very cool.

So a month or two ago I took some shots of actor Marina Hallin in the Cabrillo Black Box. These shots were to publicize the production of Carrie which opens Saturday. I really like how Cabrillo's designer, David Woods, used my shot to create a very nice poster for the production. I'll be there on Thursday to take dress rehearsal shots. I'm told there will be blood.
