Today is National Dog Day. Given the events happening in Afghanistan this morning, I had decided not to post. It didn't feel right to celebrate today, even if it was a celebration of the joy our pups bring into our lives. There is so much suffereing, I just can't share happy photos.
I just watched a news conference detailing the loss of 12 US Service members and an unknown amount of innocent civilians at the hands of presumed Isis bombers. My heart breaks for them and their families. There is so much pain, dispair and unfathomable tragedy in the world right now. It's hard to know what to do or where to turn.
Then I saw this video. This woman and her people are risking their lives RIGHT NOW for the animals they've rescued in Afgahnistan! Under threat from the Taliban in her yard with weapons including gr***de launchers, she says she will not leave her animals. That is strength and courage beyond which I can comprehend. Please send your blessings to Kabul Small Animal Rescue and pray for their safety and safe passage out. If this video touches you as it has me, share, share, SHARE. So the other day I teased an announcement that was coming on Sunday.. failing to realize that there was some sort of sporting event taking place that day that might be a tad bit of a distraction. Please accept my sincerest apologies.😉Now...without further delay...let me fill you in on the excitement!

My sweet friend and wonderful pet photographer extraordinaire Karen Black of Indigo Pet Photography was recently broken hearted to see and hear of the animals distressed and losing their lives in the horrendous bush fires in Australia. Being a woman of action, Karen founded Paws for Oz, a group of international pet photographers coming together to benefit Wildlife Victoria a very worthy organization that makes it their mission to assist the country's sick, injured and orphaned wild animals.

Of course, Karen is not alone. We've all seen the images of devastation and hurt in Australia. It seems so overwhelming. What can we possibly do to help? Well, here's our chance!

We at DoggieTales Photography are thrilled to join the Paw for Oz initiative! In exchange for a $50USD/$75AUD donation we are offering 2 afternoons of mini session doggie photo shoots! Participants will receive a super cute personalized social media image of their pup, a 5"x7" fine art print and we will match your donation contribution amount as a credit toward a future full session if you so choose!

There are two sessions to choose from.
A Nature Session on February 22nd in Santa Clarita
An Urban Session on February 29th in Los Angeles

On Valentine's Day after a yummy dinner we popped on down to the lake for a mid-blizzard photoshoot in 4 degree temps! Chance was a trooper as he loves the snow. Minutes before we took this shot the lights went out all over town which was fortunate because it allowed me to completely control and manipulate the light as I'd intended. We used some blue gel on a strobe placed behind Chance to illuminate the falling snow and lend a super cold vibe to the shot. Hope you enjoy.

It’s a rainy day in Southern California...almost as rare as the magical Unipitty! This is Rusty. Isn’t he just the most awesome thing ever?!?! He’s a certified therapy dog which wasn’t a surprise to me because after 2 minutes in his presence he lit my morning up in the sunniest way.
Come on out to Race for the Rescues at the Rose Bowl today to support rescue pets.
For every session booked today we are donating $50 to to aid their amazing efforts to help animals in need.
