Mori K. Photography Photographer, geographer, and educator. Based in Colorado, USA. Sharing my passion for our natural world through photographs, one shoot at a time.

I’m a Colorado-based photographer offering photos and fine-art prints of landscapes, nature, and wildlife. All photos are captured and minimally edited by me to remain true to the scene, featuring places from Colorado and my travels. I believe a photograph is not complete until it is printed. While this page shares what I saw through the lens with you, I have also started a store to turn real moments lived in the natural world into tangible, lasting fine art prints. Each photograph in the shop is captured in-camera and edited by me specifically for print, with care for detail, color fidelity, and longevity. I use a natural approach to editing, preserving the authenticity of the scene as it was experienced. Through my work, I hope to share the beauty and thrill of the natural world and bring a piece of it into your space.

“I love you!” The Gannet way.

These two Australasian gannets (tākapu) are performing a bill fencing greeting, where pairs stretch their necks and tap or cross their bills rapidly to reinforce their bond. It's the sweetest thing to watch.

I photographed them at Muriwai Beach by Auckland, New Zealand, in August 2026, at the beginning of their breeding season. I took hundreds of photos of different pairs, hoping to capture that one moment when their bills touched just at the tip, with symmetrical poses.

I had to miss Autumn in my home State of Colorado this year (and for good reason), but sharing a frame from last year.
Can you tell where this is?
It was one of the shots I took in my quest to capture less photographed perspectives around the State.

The limestone rocks stretched along Kaikōura's coast always make a fun challenge for finding compositions, but also, endlessly peaceful despite the constant chatter of oystercatchers and gulls over the sound of waves breaking. In fact, it's peaceful because of their chatters!

This is a single exposure captured in CRAW, with shadows raised in the foreground and highlights of the sky suppressed a bit, to better replicate what I saw in that location in one frame.

Westland Petrel (Tāiko). They are amazing gliders, but they can also dive more than 10 meters to sn**ch food. Seen here over the submarine canyon just off the coast of Kaikōura (on the East Coast), away from its home on the West Coast. Not far for a petrel though.

Trying, but I think failing, to push the sunstar effect. What do you think? How can a sunstar be made here better?
I also think I forgot to take my CPL filter off, which most likely has added to the glare.
Single exposure. Shadows lifted and dehazed around the sunstar, along with desaturation.

This gentle giant is a white-capped mollymawk/albatross.

I was thrilled to see the light reflected off the ocean onto the wing underside!

Photographed just off the coast of Kaikōura, New Zealand.
