This is what I think about you Monday! Let me introduce you to gorgeous Indigo. She is available for adoption at Santa Barbara County Animal Services. This photo made me laugh because it looks like every 13 year old girl’s Instagram account posing with their arms out in what I like to call “the chicken wing”. I guess it’s spilled over to dogs too. If you have room in your family for this big headed love bug please go check her out. I think she was a “daddy’s girl” because she absolutely loves men. She gets the wiggle butt when she sees them.

It’s not just all about the dogs here on this page. Sometimes I photograph otter furry and not so furry pets too. On this day I was lucky enough to point my lens at Wrigley the cat. Wrigley was a rescue from the Anti-Cruelty Society in Chicago. This photo was taken of him while he was in foster care. He was a little extra “fluffy” so they were working on getting him to a healthy weight while looking for his forever family. That’s him “exercising” with his toy. No judgment here buddy. I pretty much looked exactly like you at the gym this am. .

***As a reminder I am moving this page to WinkFace Photography soon. As of 4/1 I will only be posting on the WinkFace Page so please be sure to like the new page if you haven’t already. Thanks!!

The other day I posted a picture of our birthday boy Bear. Wink got a bit jelly and started giving me stink eye. In an effort to show that I don’t play favorites, here is our other beautiful dog Wink aka “frog dog”. You can’t see her hind legs but they hang out pretty much like the front ones. We have had her for 6 years and it still makes me laugh. I love this crazy girl .

*Please note that as of 4/1/18 I will not be using this account. I am no longer in Chicago and Facebook continues to deny my request to change the name to “WinkFace Photography” . Thanks almighty Facebook! Please follow me instead at WinkFace Photography (you need to like the page to see daily updates) or on Instagram and suck it Mark Z!

So this guy turns 11 today! Happy birthday to our sweet dog Bear! Bear will always be my special dog. We adopted Bear 10 years ago from Animal Care and Control in Chicago. It’s a very high kill shelter on the west side. Bear had already been returned twice to the shelter for reasons I don’t understand. I didn’t know he would be the dog we would end up with, or even what we were looking for. He was one of the first cages I came to. I told myself I would say hello to all of the dogs before making any kind of decision. I pet Bear for a few minutes through the cage and said goodbye to see the rest of the dogs. Bear started to whimper which broke my heart. I promised I would come back. As soon as I finished saying hello to every dog there I immediately returned to Bear who I believe was named Blaze at the time. About 30 min later I was taking him home. We could not ask for a better dog. We gave Bear my Grandma D’s birthday because she loved dogs so much and would have loved Bear too. Grandma would have been 106 today. Happy birthday Grandma D too. 😘

Did you know there were dogs that looked like this at shelters? This is Flash and he is waiting for you at Santa Barbara County Animal Services. If you adopt him you just need to be prepared to not be the prettiest in the household. And have you seen those baby blues?!

Yesterday I got to spend the day with this beautiful pair of dogs whose story will break your heart. I met Sadie the little 9 yo white one-eyed pretty girl on the left and her handsome brother Yuma the 10 yo Shepherd mix the shelter on Friday when I took their photos. Their owner recently passed away and having nowhere else to go they ended up at the shelter. Yesterday I took them around town to help show them off and hopefully find a new home. Their personalities immediately came out the second they got in the car. Little Sadie playfully started to roll around on the backseat so happy to get out and go on an adventure. Yuma the protective big brother always was watching out for his little sister. When he wasn’t doing that he would stare at me with his soulful brown eyes that melt your heart looking for pets (which I happily obliged). It’s really important to get these two adopted together which is no easy task for one dog let alone two. That coupled with their age will present a bit of a challenge too. If any of you know someone that can open up their hearts and homes to these two please share. They deserve a happy ending to their story. Many thanks in advance. They are waiting for their special person at Santa Barbara County Animal Services 5473 Overpass Rd

Happy Friday! I hope when you look back on the week that seemed to just fly by, that you too have something to smile about! If not then smile because it’s almost the weekend. Whatever just smile and fake it “till you make it!” I’m pretty sure nobody is going to hire me to write fortune cookies any time soon. 🤩

I always forget what a small town Santa Barbara is especially compared to Chicago. I was reminded of that when I snapped this photo of Rudi the 10 yo Chiweenie. Since moving here almost a year ago, I have admired the architecture of this church-specially the beautiful arched columned entryway. I thought one day I will get a photo of a dog there. I was fortunate that handsome Rudi was there to help me out and be my perfect model. Rudi a was rescued as a stray from S.P.A.R.C in Santa Paula 4 years ago to a wonderful doggie mama that takes him to work with her everyday. As I was laying on the ground, making my stupid noises at Rudi looking absolutely like a crazy woman, I hear a voice across the street saying “Is that Rudi?” Followed by “is that Wendy?”. That has happened a few times already in this city in a town I didn’t think I knew many people yet. This time I was recognized by a lovely veterinarian that I had the great pleasure of meeting when I was photographing the Search and Rescue Dogs from the Montecito Mudslides. Dr Maddie was one of the amazing Veterinarians volunteering her time to help the K-9 heroes get medical attention at the end of their daily shifts. Rudi just happens to be her neighbor. One photo I took of her treating the dogs was actually shown on the Ellen Show (slide to the next page to see it) Such a small world. Now if Rob Lowe would just come out of hiding that would be great. He’s just in Montecito the next town over. You can’t hide forever .

I’m getting a little stink eye from this handsome 5 yo cocker spaniel Amos. I think he blames me for getting wet. I may have had a part in it, but it was an accident buddy! I was hoping for a head tilt with my noises and not “get away from crazy photographer lady!” Of course pet safety is my number one concern, and Amos was not hurt in the capturing of this photo. Sometimes bloopers happen, so I thought I’d show some behind the scenes pet photography epic fails like I experienced yesterday. I like the wet dog look Amos and you had every right to shake off next to me and my camera. Well played my friend .
