Most content DIES the day it’s posted.🪦
We spent an evening with Raleigh Women In Marketing talking about the work that doesn’t. Here’s what stood out from our Spooky Good Marketing panel at Raleigh Workup | Design Coworking:

🦇 Authenticity is the strategy. People don’t connect with perfect. They connect with honest, specific, and a little bit brave. Keep it real, be you.

🦇 The work that rises above the noise is rooted in culture and made for real people, not the feed. Be authentic and it will show.

🦇 Creative risk pays off when you trust the idea and the people behind it. Even the swings that miss teach you something polish never will. Take that leap.

🦇 Social is still a people business. Behind every great campaign is a human who knows the community and makes the judgment calls.

🦇 AI is a tool, not the voice. Use it to move faster and think bigger, with clear guardrails around brand voice, visuals, and anything that needs a human touch.

So grateful to share the stage with Caity Barnes, MELISSA COLOTON | Sales Coach & Consultant, and Danielle Hurst - NC REALTOR®, with our incredible moderators. We talked through building trust, sales alignment, avoiding burnout, and knowing which trends should stay buried.

What’s one marketing lesson that still haunts you?!

I used to believe that if you wanted to do meaningful creative work, you had to leave the place you loved to do it. So, I did.

I spent over a decade building brands in California,
from Silicon Valley to Santa Barbara, learning how to build at scale, in cities where I knew no one and no one knew me.

Then the world changed in 2020, and my husband and I moved to Raleigh, North Carolina with a newborn.

I expected limitations outside of a big market like SF or LA or NYC. Instead, I found an entire production ecosystem already here. Talent. Locations. Community. People hungry for creative opportunities. All of it.

So, we started building differently. Camp Digital | Creative Agency was built locally and still creates globally, partnering with brands like Disney, Star Wars, Aura, and P.F. Flyers, right here from Raleigh.

Earlier this year, I shared my story at CreativeMornings/RDU, and the biggest piece of advice I want other creatives to know:

Don’t wait for a creative community to exist. Be the person who helps build it. Be an active participant in making things happen.

Because what makes Raleigh, or your city, special is that YOU get to help shape it.

If you’re looking for a place to start, there are 259 CreativeMornings chapters worldwide, so grab a coffee, and pull up a seat to a creative community that might already exist in your backyard!

Adding this BUFFALO SAFARI 🦬 to our Hyco Lake guest guide for Hideout at HIDEOUT. Sunset Ridge Buffalo Farm has been raising bison since 2001, right on land where native buffalo roamed back in the 1700s. Resident herd, safari-style wagon tours, and grass-fed bison meat you can take home. Book a tour, meet the buffalo, then head back to the lake!
