I’ve started and deleted this post more times than I’d like to admit, because stepping away from something you love is really, really hard. 🤍
But lately, I’ve realized that I can’t keep pouring from a cup that needs to be filled, too.
So for right now, I’m going to take a step back from photography.
Not forever. I’m not closing Grace + Mae, and I’m not giving up something that has become such a huge part of who I am. I just need some time to be me again. To be a wife and a mom without constantly thinking about the next session, the next gallery, the next message that needs answered, or the next thing on my calendar. I need some quiet. Some mental clarity. And honestly, just some time to breathe and figure out what I need.
Sometimes I think we get so used to carrying everything that we don’t realize how heavy it has gotten until we finally decide to put some of it down.
Every session that is already booked will still happen as planned, and every gallery currently waiting on me will be finished and delivered. But I will not be taking on any additional fall sessions, and I’ve made the difficult decision not to offer SYTF minis this year.
This business has been one of the greatest gifts in my life. You’ve trusted me with your babies, your families, your weddings, your milestones, and moments you can never get back. I’ve watched babies turn into toddlers and families grow right in front of my camera. So many of you have become so much more than clients, and I hope you know how deeply I mean it when I say that getting to document your lives has been an absolute privilege.
But my own little family deserves that version of me, too. And right now, I think I need her just as much as they do.
I don’t know exactly when I’ll be back. I don’t want to put a timeline on something that I’m doing because I need less pressure in my life. I just know that when I do come back, I want to come back because I genuinely miss creating — not because I feel like I’m supposed to.
Grace + Mae Lifestyle Photography isn’t going anywhere. 🤍
I’m just giving the girl behind the camera a little time to find herself again.
Thank you for loving my work, trusting me with your memories, supporting this dream of mine, and giving me a little grace while I take some time for my own.
This isn’t goodbye. Just a little intermission. 🤍
