Merry Christmas from our FAPL Family to yours! We hope everyone has a day filled with kitten purrs and puppy kisses! As for us, we spent time caring for the animals! Our staff and volunteers rock, and will make sure the animals get walked and socialized even during the holiday!

Today the resident pigs and the rescued pigs of Friendship Animal Protective League participated in The Ohio State University's parasite occurrence study in pigs that have access to pasture (rather than raised on concrete). Dr. Resende's study is free to the participants, her research team does all the sampling work (non-invasive to the pigs - its just p**p collection), and the results are shared. I was especially excited for these pigs to participate, as they're the only rescued sounder in the study thus far.

Hopefully this post will reach other Ohio and surrounding pig owners/farmers/rescues and inspire them to volunteer for the study, as the research team has had limited luck with participation. The study supports good research, and the pay-off is knowledge of our pigs' intestinal health. Cheetahs:

💧 Have "tear marks" (the black linear markings from their eyes to their mouth) to help protect their eyes from the sun's glare
💪 Have an extremely long, muscular tail that functions as a rudder while sprinting
🌾 Have markedly long/tall hair as cubs, allowing them to camouflage as tall grass or honey badgers while they are most vulnerable to predators

‼️ Are Africa's MOST ENDANGERED big cat, with only 7500 left in the wild. They also have a small gene pool, as they've barely escaped extinction multiple times already.
