The Cgynus wall in SHO. Going back through some more stuff I shot this summer but never got around to posting. This is part of the North American Nebula and one of my favorite areas of the sky. Captured while I was in in California.

M44 - the beehive star cluster. I used to think star clusters were “boring”, but I don’t think so anymore. This is with my new sharpstar sca260 I finally got running. I also often didn’t like diffraction spikes (especially fake ones), but I really like the super clean ones this scope and some other cdk type scopes produce which really drew me to it. I definitely want to shoot some more clusters soon.

Flaming star nebula in HaRGB- swipe. With fog cutting my nights short when I shot this I didn’t get quite as much time on this as I would have liked but here it is for now. I had a fun time trying a new spot up in North fl a couple months ago where I gathered data for this.

In the east Oregon wilderness - swipe.

So I recently was reading comments on an article about places with interesting/offensive names and the topic of Wh******se Meadow came up. I learned it is on Steens mountain and got its name from the old west days when some local women would set up tents and shacks there to provide services for local sheep herders and cattleman. Seriously, google/wiki this- if only I had known when I was there. There was an attempt to change the name to Naughty Girl Meadow in the 80s but it was reverted back after public outcry.

*actual meadow location is in the distance down the the right of this photo and is now located on private property.

Rainier - color IR. I really enjoyed seeing the pacific northwest this summer. Like most of my trip, it was a last minute decision if I would drive that way or go a completely different direction. It’s interesting to think about all the things I would have missed and where else I might have ended up if I made different little last minute decisions.
