Yesterday I just posted about studio sessions, but do you want to why I’d pick your home over a studio for your newborn session every time?! It has very little to do with logistics, and everything to do with EMOTION.
It is because home is where the heart is. The rooms already know your rhythms. The light falls where it always has and where you watch it every day. The baby settles easier. The kids don’t perform or have nerves, instead they play, they belong.
This at-home newborn session in Norfolk felt unhurried and honest. It was the third at home session for this precious family. I was welcomed back to soft morning light, bare feet on familiar floors, parents moving with confidence because nothing here was staged for the camera, Christmas decorations starting to add magic and tradition, and the comfort of home adding a deeper nostalgia to their portraits. That simply can not be replicated in a studio.
These are the details that won’t feel dated years from now and not because they’re perfect, but because they’re true.
For families who want newborn and family photography that feels like life as it’s actually lived (playful and deeply personal) home is often the most meaningful place for your session. I have spots left in February and March for more in-home sessions, for newborn, family, or maternity!
