“I have no idea what I’m doing.”

Honestly… this is one of my favorite parts of a photoshoot.

It happens before the camera even really gets going.

It’s the moment someone sits down and just says what they’re actually feeling.

Sometimes it’s
“Please don’t make me do anything weird.”

Fair.

Most people assume they’re supposed to know how to pose before a portrait session.

But really… you don’t.

That’s my job.

So every session here at the studio starts slowly. But fun.

Good music.
Hair and makeup getting started.
Wardrobe settling in.
A little breathing room.

Then we start building the image together.

Soft tweaks.
Subtle direction.
Finding the good light.

And smiling.

Just kidding.

Finding the best fluster.

Somewhere in the middle of all that, something shifts.

You stop thinking about the camera.
You stop thinking about me.
You stop performing.

And for a moment, you’re just you.

That’s the moment we capture.

Not perfection.

But there is something especially powerful about the moment a mother stands beside her daughters.

Celebrating Ana today and also celebrating every woman who has ever carried way too much and still decided to show up for herself anyway.

When Ana walked into the studio she wasn’t trying to be anyone else.
She just wanted to create something that matched the little fire she already had going inside
the woman she knew she was growing into
and honestly she showed up like yeah
it’s my turn now.

And honestly
that hits home for so many of us.
Especially the eldest daughters
the ones who learned to be strong before we even understood what that meant
the ones who are out here breaking cycles without a blueprint.

A photoshoot might look simple
but for women like us
it’s a moment where you exhale and think
wow
I’ve grown
I’ve changed
I’m actually proud of this version of me.

That’s why I love Ana’s session so much.
She walked in as herself
no apology
no shrinking
just a woman stepping into her next chapter with her whole chest.

If you’ve been feeling that little pull to do something for yourself
not for the kids
not for work
not for family
for you
this is your reminder that you’re allowed.

You carry a lot.

Most of my camera roll looks like this these days
the in between moments
the studio half set
the dresses I am steaming
my baby on the floor
the quiet drives that remind me I am still me

I have been rebuilding my rhythm
learning to show up in the middle of real life
not polished
just present
the way it looks when you are raising babies and running something you love

And somewhere in that rhythm
I started noticing how nostalgic these frames really are
the grain
the mess
the sunlight
the fabric
the way my kids treat the studio like home

They are not aesthetic
but they already feel like memories

We save so much on our phones
yet the moments that matter most
are the ones we barely remember capturing
the ones where we were too busy living to pose

That is the part of life I want to help you hold on to
especially now
when the season is moving fast
and the holidays arrive whether we feel ready or not

Some of you had your fall photos done in September with matching flannels and pumpkin spice energy. We love that for you. Truly.

And then there are the rest of us. The Type B and Type C moms who suddenly woke up like… oh wow, it is basically December and I still want holiday photos of my babies because I actually do care, I just do not have my life color coded in Google Calendar.

If that is you, come here, sit next to me. You are safe.

Holiday Minis at TR Studio were made for the moms who do not need five different sets and fake snow to prove it is festive. We are keeping it minimal, classic, and actually doable. White backdrop, timeless styling, short and sweet sessions, and yes, mama, you are getting in the photos too.

For the moms who deserve to be in the frame, even if we arrive with snacks, a rogue hair tie, and someone’s glitter lip balm in our pocket. For the grandparents who will cry when they open the prints. For the families who celebrate when it feels like the holidays, not when the internet tells us to.

The hardest part of motherhood isn’t the work—it’s the disappearing.

Because when you’re the anchor, the lists, the love, the default parent—the world rarely pauses long enough for you to see yourself.

There is no out-of-office for mothers. Even sick, even empty, we’re still holding the whole thing together.

And that’s why imagery matters. It’s not vanity. It’s not “extra.” It’s a way to step outside yourself for a moment and remember that you exist outside the caregiving.
