Hillsdale junior attacker Ethan Kobty passes forward while being pressed by a Willow Glen defender during their 12-9 non-league varsity win over the Rams.

The 3-0 Fighting Knights were led by junior Adrian Chindris who scored eight goals and had eight steals during the game.

Hillsdale JV also won, 12-10, in the nightcap. JV goalie Tommy Ciardella makes a splashy save for one of his nine stops.

Thursday's Bryce Canyon Country Rodeo was a lot of fun to watch! I had traveled to Utah to attempt some astrophotography, but due to consistent cloudy weather, these local competitors were the only stars I was able to capture. Bryce Canyon Country Rodeo

It was my first rodeo visit, so I wasn't sure what I'd see, and the rain prevented me from photographing many of the competitors. Next time, I'll have to bring some longer lenses.

KMXXVIII, the 28th version of Knight Moves, finished its three-show run in May to a full house and thunderous applause.

Every year, Sabrina and her team put on a dance show that showcases the incredible talent of Hillsdale's student dancers, and this year was no exception.

The junior pitcher struck out three, yielded no walks, and gave up only four hits.

In the 2nd photo, Branham junior RF Lily Jensen catches a fly ball. It was Bruins softball's first trip to a CCS final.

Sequoia shortstop (and Pomona-commit) Jaime Elkington scoops up a ground ball. However, the senior Raven's defense wasn't enough to stop Notre Dame Belmont, as the Tigers won their senior game 11-0 in five innings.

Aragon's Elizabeth Magness stretches and digs a throw in the dirt to get the out during the Dons' 12-2 run-rule victory over rival Hillsdale. The senior tri-captain also scored three runs.

The annual "Big Game" is held at neutral Chanteloup Field as the majority of players from both teams grew up playing SMYSA youth softball there.

This photo of San Mateo HS junior Kaitlyn Schuh matching the Fighting Knights Relays' high jump record of 5'4" was named MaxPreps' Photo of the Month for March 2026.

In my six years with MaxPreps, it's my first time receiving the honor after a few nominations. When I captured the image, I knew it was a decent one. Honestly, I was content just seeing Kaitlyn's mother's expression when I previewed the photo from my camera. (The celebration in the crowd made it easy to identify the parent. :) )

For me, who started as a parent photographer, the recognition of my improvement from other professional photographers means so much. Photos are nominated by MaxPreps' editorial staff and voted on by the hundreds of MaxPreps photographers across America. Each month's winner is considered for the Photo of the Year award, so fingers crossed.

And I'll continue to focus on getting better. (pun intended)

Burlingame's Elsie Geddes looks to score during the Panthers' thrilling comeback 13-12 OT win over Sequoia.

The speedy freshman midfielder scored one goal for the Panthers, while another freshman, Audrey Wuebbling, led the team with five goals.

In the other photo, Sequoia junior Ashlyn Crawford fires a shot in traffic. She scored three goals while sophomore Amelie Gedikian led the Ravens with five goals.
