This little one wasn’t looking at the camera. I didn’t ask them to.

Some of my favorite frames happen in between the “official” shots — when everyone forgets I’m there and just leans in close. This is a family in its softest, most honest form, lit by nothing but the end of the day.

This is why I do what I do.

I love the family portraits, the big group shots, all of it — but give me this every time. A mama and her baby, foreheads almost touching, the ocean just doing its thing in the background because it doesn’t know how important this moment is.

It was such an honor and pleasure to shoot in New York for my dear friend from architecture school, Shilpa Patel. Not only is Shilpa an incredibly talented architect, she takes Indian saris and recreates them into incredible fashion pieces. To say that photographing architectural fashion in New York in front of architecturally iconic buildings was a dream come true is an understatement!
