Today’s session was one of those that reminds me why photography is so much more than just pictures. I spent a short time with my dear friend, Sonia, and her sweet pup, Moe — now 14 years old — who I have been photographing since he was just a wiggly little ball of energy when Sonia and I were still in college.
This time, though, the session was different, as this may be Moe’s last Christmas with Sonia and her precious family. It was a chance to honor all the years, adventures, routines and quiet moments that have filled their life together. Needless to say, there wasn’t a dry eye between us all.
There’s something so incredible and powerful about holding space for love like that — love that has spanned moves, heartbreaks, celebrations, growing up and growing older. Today felt like a full-circle moment, and I’m grateful I could help capture the bond they have built over sweet Moe’s lifetime. Hug your pets a little tighter tonight. They’re only with us for such a short time, but they fill those years with so much heart and unconditional love ♥️🐾
