LevinO Photography

LevinO Photography I'm passionate about photography. This is the means by which I am able to express myself artistically. My "photographic eye" is eclectic.

My goal is to share with others the beauty I see around me, as I see it through my mind's eye. What started out as a project to save family photos is evolving into a passion. I'm still experimenting, working to find out who I am photographically. Please come in and join the journey with me. My "photographic eye" is eclectic, whatever attracts my curiosity. You are welcome to view my history and th

at of my family through old photos I've discovered and restored. And to share in my life's adventures through the years. My fun site is the Mountain Olson Website (http://www.mtnolson.com/), and is where I get to tell stories of my adventures and share with friends and family.

Our first day in the Bisti Badlands. We spent the day plotting routes and finding spots to come back to at night for photos. We had an Indian guide who grew up here. 6.1 mile hike and we saw things tourists would never find.

One of the most fascinating stops along the river was Clonmacnoise.
Clonmacnoise is a ruined monastery in County Offaly in Ireland on the River Shannon south of Athlone, founded in 544 by Saint Ciarán.
Saint Ciarán founded the monastery in the ancient territory of Uí Maine at a point where the major east–west land route meets the River Shannon after crossing the bogs of Central Ireland known as the Esker Riada. The strategic location of the monastery helped it become a major center of religion, learning, craftsmanship and trade by the 9th century; and together with Clonard it was one of the most famous places in Ireland, visited by scholars from all over Europe. From the ninth until the eleventh century it was allied with the kings of Meath. Many of the high kings of Tara and of Connacht were buried here.

Our first stop was the little town of Drumsna, where we spent the first night in the boat. The harbour dates to 1817 and was a hive of commercial waterway activity until the more northern navigation canal to Carrick-on-Shannon was opened in 1850.

After my niece and her husband joined us, we took the train to Carrick-On-Shannon. This is where we picked up our rental boat the next day. We were told to beware of the "hens" and "stags" while there. It turns out this little town, by tradition, is where bachelor and bachelorette parties are held before they return and get married.

Across the footbridge from Christ Church is Dublinia, a historical recreation (or living history) museum and visitor attraction in Dublin, Ireland, focusing on the Viking and Medieval history of the city. Dublinia is located in a part of Dublin's Christ Church Cathedral, known as the Synod hall.
The original building was the first christian church in Dublin, founded by the Vikings.
