Apparently, it’s world photography day today, with the theme this year being “home”….and while I am beyond blessed to live in such a beautiful place I call home, Home is the people you do life with and love with all you’ve got. Its exact location can be flexible and moving and changing with seasons but those people are always your despite your geographical location. So instead of where is your home….my question for you is WHO is your home?

When your kids are this cute you better have at least 4. This sweet family was way too much fun to play with at the beach….oh and take photos of. We saw dolphins swimming, whispered secrets to the baby in the belly, saw who was the fastest and had the best dance moves in red light green light. My favorite way to shoot a family session is to watch you play and enjoy each other with a few posed moments in there too.

This amazing client decided to surprise his wife with extended family photos while they were on a trip to Pismo (a place specifically special to her and her childhood.) He made sure they had outfit coordination happening and had blocked “watch sunset” in their calendar as a group. Apparently she had happy tears when that said sunset viewing came with family photos. I know I’ve said it before and will say it again, photos with your family is so worth the investment. When it’s all said and done most of what you spend money on won’t matter to you or your next generation but photos get passed on, memories of those moments get shared, you leave a little legacy each time to remind yourself and your family of what this life if really lived for.

A day in the editing life…. The grand finale my favorite must have….

✅coffee or beverage/s in on of my many annual kid photo cups.
✅my loupedeck so I can feel like an editing DJ and because my hands have separate brains and operate independently
✅jams or a Netflix binge (typically of the true crime variety- send me your recs)
✅ curved monitor will a million images on deck.
✅desk mess to tackle
✅my cutie little sd card holder 3d printed by my hubby.
✅ my fav photos of my grandparents.
✅my emotional support life planner

✅ last but won’t let herself be least- my velcro whippet Jettie girl ✨

I love it when a boyfriend/husband/son/dad is the one to book the shoot. These men deserve an applause for understanding not every gift comes wrapped in a box.

Sometimes it looks like a weekend getaway, a sunset walk on the beach, and a photo session with the people (and pups) you love most.

Photography can feel like a big investment, but the older I get, the more I realize it’s really an investment in remembering. In celebrating the people who matter. In preserving a season before it slips away.
Because one day these photos won’t just be artwork on a wall—they’ll be proof of a life that was deeply loved.
And that’s priceless. 🤍

I’ve been so lucky to watch this sweet family grow from behind my lens, from when they had just one baby in the belly, and now their sessions are filled with laughter and games and giggles.
