This is a view of the , from my place, around 9:15pm this evening.
This fire has been burning all day, to the southeast of me, in the Carrizo Plains National Monument. It’s the biggest of 4 fires out here today (that I know of). It’s a biggie, and has just crossed the county line into Kern County. Updates are few and far between … as of 6 hours ago, the fire was sized at over 3100 acres, and it has grown (visibly & steadily) since then.
We are a safe distance away, and as always, VERY grateful to all the firefighters. I’m writing this update at 11:20 pm, and there’s thunder and lightning, and lots of it. Here’s hoping for some rain too (pretty please?), and no more dry-lightning fire-starts. 🙏
