SLOtography Wedding, Event & Family Photography (Including Photobooths!) for the San Luis Obispo Area Blake Andrews, Founder: SLOtography

San Luis Obispo is my home, my playground and my favorite place to take photos. Where my passion for photography once took me to faraway lands, I now use my camera to explore this beautiful land & interact with the people fortunate enough to be here. Photography is my passion and my profession ~ which is an excellent thing :)

I enjoy taking photos of just about anything: from scenic landscapes an

d wildlife, to family portraits and wedding celebrations. If you are in need of professional photography (for just about anything), don't hesitate to message me (email, call, stop by the office). If I can't accomodate you, I'm happy to refer you to someone who may be able to help!

Sierra+Zach

A winter elopement at Cayucos Landing that felt like pure magic. The ocean was calm, the sunset glowed soft and golden, and somehow their “winter” ceremony was warm and perfectly still.

Just the two of them, the sound of the waves, and a sky that showed off all evening.

Central Coast winters really know how to show up.

Happy Groundhog Day! (to Jackie & Ryan ~ these beautiful two souls…but enough about their adorability)…

Groundhog Day.

The one holiday that represents…nothing. Yes, there may be some shenanigans in the selection process of the “purest” breeding practices and bloodlines of groundhogs (solid build, symmetrical features…or, maybe what it comes down to is which groundhog is the most chill and least likely to bit the guy in the pilgrim hat…what’s his deal…?), but all seems quite arbitrary.

The fact that some early settlers believed that whether or not a groundhog sees its shadow on Feb. 2nd has anything to do with the duration of winter is so stony, (however, to be fair, so too are most superstitions in cultures everywhere), I just feel like most of them actually have a story that’s cool enough to be categorized as “myth”…with a protagonist, antagonist, superhuman feats that could be performed only by “God-like” characters, plot twists, etc. Not here. It’s just a chubby groundhog coming out for a snack for no apparent reason other than we need something that casts a shadow…, and yeah, let’s pick the shortest creature so it’ll never be definitive whether or not that shadow is really there. And they can’t assess this just anywhere in Punxsutawney, PA… it must be done at Gobbler’s K**b. Great shadow-casting there. The best.

I love Groundhog Day because it is so trivial. Someone just thought, it’s been too long since MLK day, Presidents’ Day is too far away, and I sure am getting bored with winter…can we get an arbitrary holiday already? Yes. Yes, we can.

Hot Take on movie of the year: Train Dreams. It’s the only hot take I’m willing to share here right now… Other than that, I just humbly offer some stupendous photos of two beautiful people. Have a pleasant evening and F Ice.

It’s hard to look back on last year, overwhelming. Perhaps there was just too much ”year” in last year.

And so on the last day of the month, I’m choosing to take a look back at last month :). And it was just a month ago that we witnessed Claudia and Shannon Tie The Knot on Pismo Beach. They took a stroll down memory lane, even sharing their first look at their former first home together. :)

So many goodies here. And that’s my hope for 2026…more goodies, let the good times roll :)

Our year is wrapping up (with a nice little bow) and we’re silent night ing our way into Christmas. Naps for all, atop every Christmas wish list. I think that’s what we call glad tidings…who knows? Really?
Please enjoy a few sweet pics from Violet & Alex’s incredible wedding weekend!

If you’re looking for the best time to schedule family portraits for your Holiday Card, it’s never. If you’re looking for the perfect outfit, it’s out there but you’ll never find it. And if you’re wondering whether you’ll even like the family photos from your session: you’ll love them. 4 eva.

No shame. No judgement. Sure, I have captured family portraits for over a dozen families this year alone…but my own family portraits…that session is TBD.

Hit me up, or not. I still have plenty of time to capture your crew before Christmas. Or New Years’…or my personal favorite: Groundhog Day.

There’s a thing I’ve noticed about my relationship with my ‘clients,’ the Bride and Groom. If I’m lucky enough to spend time with them, we meet over wine while they vet their photographer, and I screen my potential couple. If we get along, we decide to work together—contract signed, deposit paid. Over months, we plan, coordinate, communicate. The relationship becomes supportive and collaborative, like a business deal, which many thrive in. Then the celebration begins: a welcome dinner, maybe a winery tour—where I meet the crew: family, friends, loved ones. Our relationship deepens—growth, trust, liking each other. The wedding day follows—the pressure ramps up, details land perfectly—the suit, makeup, dress, vows, first look, kiss—a whirlwind. As the sun sets, I focus on capturing the couple at their radiant best. They’re ‘Cloud 9,’ and I’ve fallen for them. Witnessing a community come together to celebrate two beautiful people is moving—something words can’t fully capture but we feel deeply. To Violet, Alex, and all the couples who’ve invited me to celebrate with them, thank you. It’s an honor and a blessing to do this week after week, to make a living doing what I love, and to still be here.
