I often get asked about the getting ready part of wedding days when Brides are trying to decide how many hour of coverage theyâre needing.
âDo I really need getting ready photos? I donât really care for detail photos. How long should I allot for getting ready photos?â
While yes, getting detail photos is one reason to add time to your timeline, the getting ready part of the day is so much more than detail photos! Getting ready photos give your photographer the chance to document those little moments are are equally as special as the big moments of the day. Getting ready photos is your mom or best friend zipping up your dress as youâre getting ready to see your future spouse for the first time that day. Getting ready photos is that moment your bridesmaids take their first look of you in your beautiful gown; or your dad seeing you for the first time in your wedding dress. Getting ready photos are all the little moments that you might have missed because youâre so busy and excited about the day that your photographer will be able to capture for you. Like your bridesmaids working together to unload your dress while youâre getting hair and make up done, or even you just sharing some laughs with your bridesmaids in your matching robes.
The getting ready part of the day is so fun and special. Here are some things to keep in mind for getting ready photos:
- I always recommend 1-1.5 hrs when possible. This will allow us to have time for flatlays, details, fun bridesmaids photos, first look with your dad, first look with your bridesmaids, and solo bridal photos.
- donât worry! I wonât get any photos of you without make up- I know nobody wants that! I always wait until the HMUA is doing the final touches to get that getting-your-make-up-done photo!
- be sure to let your bridesmaids (& mom) know that they need to get their dresses on about 15 minutes before your put your own dress on! Usually while youâre getting final touches done with make up! This will ensure that everyone is ready to go once youâre done with hair & make up and we can jump straight into photos!
Hope this is helpful! xo
