Sometimes I like to just go for a drive into the forest. Driving alone quietly has always been an easy way for me reconnect with myself so that I can be ready to listen to what the universe is trying to say to me.

A lone climber finishing up for the day.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
At the end of our adventure this day, my family and I sat down and watched this climber casually free solo up this rock and rappel down as the light fades into the night. It was a little flashback into my past - my husband and I loved running up climbs in the afternoon and catching the last light as we come down. It was pretty neat to now watch this with our kids.

“Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature’s peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop off like autumn leaves.” -John Muir

Anybody else feel this way in the wild? For me, this is especially true in the desert. To sit at the top of a rock formation with no agenda, just being still with nature at that moment, nothing more, nothing less - that is peace to me.

Oh, how I would love to go back in time to visit this place at its prime near the end of the 19th century. I moved to San Jose (an hour drive from here) 15 years ago and yet this was my first time visiting the Sutro Baths. I guess I still have a lot of exploring to do in my own backyard! Where's your favourite places to visit in the Bay Area? I think I'm going to have to make a list and check them off!

Wow, it's been a long time since my last post, so a big thanks to those of you who stuck around and chose not to unfollow me! 🙏 With life being so crazy (physically, emotionally and mentally), I keep finding myself without my camera gear and ever more grateful for the awesome camera on my iPhone 13 Pro.

I’ve been away from IG for the last week, prioritizing on some much needed self-care and relationships dearest to me (which included benching my camera so I wouldn’t be tempted to post).

Having said that, my loyal iPhoneX finally met its end yesterday, so I’m now sporting an iPhone 13 Pro and WOW, I’m blown away by the camera. I’m a bit giddy about it - I’ll admit it 😂 Look at this shot of the hills behind my house - shot on iPhone 13 Pro, edited in Adobe Lightroom for iOS

“Beyond the fog lies clarity”
This quote has been on my mind a lot lately so it only seemed fitting to go shoot when the clouds came down low the other day.

Fireboat standing guard over the waters of SF. Bet you can’t tell I’m standing on a floating fire station!
As a child, I was mesmerized by the engineering feat of skyscrapers in Japan because of the way they were built to withstand earthquakes. So you can imagine my fascination when I learned that Fireboat Station 35 was the first floating station in the West, designed to ride the tides and withstand nature disasters like earthquakes!

A shot that came to be because my baby girl loves feathers and she’s taught me so well to see and collect them for her wherever I go 🪶
I drove up to the city having a very specific photo in mind that I wanted to try, but my favourite photos have always been ones that speak to me in the moment. So grateful for this moment. 🙏

Some shots take so much planning and homework, like my last post in Santa Cruz, yet sometimes you my just have to live life and these gorgeous moments find you.
I was driving back from a road trip to Utah and saw these beautiful layers in the horizon. Totally pulled over immediately and grabbed the longest lens I had. The colours and beauty were surreal, it felt like a painting 😍
So glad I pulled over, I’ve definitely hesitated in the past and missed opportunities like these before. Are you the type to plan your shots? Or do you live and feel your photos come to live in front of you?

Still one of my favourite places in Santa Cruz ☺️
