These babies lately. 🥹

Maybe it’s just the season I’m in, but I feel like I’ve been photographing the happiest, easiest, most smiley little babies lately—and I am absolutely here for it.

This age is pure magic.

They’re curious about everything. They light up when they see their parents. They give those big gummy smiles without being asked. They’re content being held, tossed in the air, cuddled, kissed, and loved on.

Yes, it’s a tiring season for parents. The naps, the bottles, the endless laundry, the constant planning around tiny schedules.

But goodness… if I could freeze one stage of childhood for just a little longer, this might be it.

The chunky legs.
The tiny toes.
The baby giggles.
The way they melt into your shoulder.
The way they look at you like you’re their whole world.

One day you’ll be chasing a toddler, then dropping off a kindergartener, and somehow these squishy baby days will feel like they happened in the blink of an eye.

I’m so grateful I get to preserve these little moments before they become memories.

One thing I’ve learned after photographing so many families and mamas over the years is that beautiful photos are rarely about just one thing.

It’s never only the photographer.

It’s the light. It’s the location. It’s the season. It’s the colors chosen for the session. It’s the connection between the people being photographed. And yes, it’s the photographer’s vision too.

Sometimes I have clients reach out and say they love a particular gallery or a specific image from my portfolio. And I always take that as the biggest compliment.

But what many people don’t realize is that the image they fell in love with was created by a combination of choices working together behind the scenes.

The soft light wasn’t an accident.
The location wasn’t random.
The outfit colors weren’t chosen by chance.
The season mattered.
The time of day mattered.

Every photographer has things they naturally gravitate toward because that’s part of what creates their signature look.

That doesn’t mean there is only one right way to do photos. Not at all.

It simply means that if you’re hiring someone because you love their work, it’s worth paying attention to the patterns in their portfolio. Those patterns are often the reason their images feel the way they do.

The best photos usually happen when clients bring their personalities and stories, and photographers bring their experience and artistic vision.

When those pieces come together, that’s when images start to feel less like pictures and more like memories.

Can we talk about how nobody warns photographers that the real challenge isn’t taking the photos…

It’s falling in love with 200 of them and somehow narrowing them down. 😭

When everything comes together... the light, the location, the dress, and a mama who absolutely glows in front of the camera... my job becomes the easy part. ✨

I will never stop saying this... solo portraits are not just for kids.

Moms deserve to be in front of the camera.Dads deserve photos that aren’t cropped out of family pictures.Women deserve beautiful portraits simply because they exist in this season of life.

One day these photos become part of your story. A reminder of how you laughed, how you carried yourself, how your eyes lit up, and all the little details that made you you.

So when someone reaches out and says, “I just want photos of myself,” my photographer heart does a little happy dance.

And pairing these photos with Desi Girl? That felt like the perfect match. ✨

Some babies have a way of making everyone around them light up.
