I will never stop saying this... solo portraits are not just for kids.

Moms deserve to be in front of the camera.Dads deserve photos that aren’t cropped out of family pictures.Women deserve beautiful portraits simply because they exist in this season of life.

One day these photos become part of your story. A reminder of how you laughed, how you carried yourself, how your eyes lit up, and all the little details that made you you.

So when someone reaches out and says, “I just want photos of myself,” my photographer heart does a little happy dance.

This time of year is always interesting.

The inland hills are already turning gold and many of the fields have dried up, but along the coast you’ll still find pockets of flowers holding on a little longer.

We lucked out with blooms, ocean views, and a gorgeous mama all in one session.

Yesterday was look one. Today is look two!

Thank you for all the love on yesterday’s post. Reading through the comments and seeing how many of you connected with this mama’s story made my heart so happy.

And honestly, she deserves every bit of it.

When I first spotted her at Trader Joe’s and nervously asked if she’d be willing to model for me, I was convinced she was expecting her first baby.

This beautiful woman is carrying her fourth baby.

I know. My jaw dropped too.

What amazes me most is how effortlessly she carries this season of life. So much grace, so much confidence, and somehow she managed to absolutely rock two completely different looks in the same session.

And she looked stunning in every single frame.

Moments like these always leave me feeling grateful. Grateful for the mamas who trust me with their stories, my creative ideas, and a chapter of life that passes far too quickly.

I have heard photographers talk about this for years.
That random moment when you see a beautiful mama, couple, or family somewhere out in the world and your photographer brain instantly starts dreaming up an entire session before you even say a word 😂

And every single time, I would talk myself out of it.

Until Trader Joe’s.

I was buying flowers for one of my families when I noticed this gorgeous mama standing behind me waiting for her turn. I remember thinking how unbelievably beautiful she looked carrying her baby. The kind of beauty that quietly makes you stop for a second.

I almost let the moment pass.

Then somehow… I saw her again in the checkout line and something inside me said, “Khushboo, if you don’t ask now, you’re going to regret it.” 😭

So I nervously asked if she would model for me someday.

And she said yes.

Two days later, we were standing in this dreamy golden field creating one of my favorite maternity sessions I’ve ever photographed. Sometimes the photos you imagine in your head never fully come to life… but this one somehow became even more beautiful than I imagined.

She trusted a complete stranger with a vision.
At 37 weeks pregnant.
Almost at the finish line.
And I’m just so grateful our paths crossed before baby arrived 🤍

The way she carried herself so softly and gracefully, the warmth between them, the flowers, the golden light… every little detail felt magical.

Some sessions stay with you forever.
This is definitely one of them.

And now I have a question for you 👀

Posting this at a completely random time because if I wait for the “perfect” time to post… these photos might never make it here 😅

But this session deserves to be seen. 🤍

This gorgeous maama showed up with the sweetest energy, trusted every little idea I had, and created pure magic with me on this beach. The soft waves, the cloudy sky, the wind catching her dress, the way they looked at each other… everything felt calm, effortless, and so full of love.

And can we talk about how stunning she looked?! Absolute dream. ✨

So even if Instagram decides this random-time post doesn’t deserve love 😂 I still wanted these moments to have a place here.

Some clients walk into your life for a session… and somehow end up staying in your heart long after the gallery is delivered. 🤍

This beautiful mama and her family are one of those for me. What started as “just photos” slowly turned into conversations, trust, excitement, outfit planning, location ideas, little updates about life, and the kind of comfort where they simply say, “We trust you.” And honestly… that trust changes everything.

When a family fully lets go and allows me to see them as they truly are, the photos always become more than photos. The kids run freely. Mom stops worrying about perfection. Dad joins in without overthinking. The session starts feeling less like work and more like spending an evening with people you genuinely care about.

Last year’s session with this mama ended up being one of the most loved sessions I’ve ever shared. So many of you connected with it, saved it, messaged me about it, and even now I still get comments about those images. And somehow this year they came back and created magic all over again… not more, not less… just a different kind of beautiful.

Looking through these feels emotional in the best way because you can actually feel the season of life they’re in right now. Tiny hands holding flowers, little sister trying to keep up, warm evening light, giggles, cuddles, all the chaos and softness that comes with raising babies. The kind of memories that feel ordinary while you’re living them, but years later become everything.

I already know next year is going to have a hard time competing with these last two years 🥹

Forever grateful for families who trust me with pieces of their story year after year. That trust will never be something I take lightly.

One thing I hear from moms all the time is,
“My senior is SO picky… but she actually loves your photos.” 🤍

And every single time I ask why, the answer almost always comes back to the same thing…
“The movement.”

That honestly makes me so happy because if you’ve worked with me before, you already know… I don’t love stiff photos. I don’t want sessions to feel like standing in one spot while someone tells you where to put your hands every two seconds.

I want you to walk. Twirl. Play with your hair. Laugh in the middle of a sentence. Look away. Dance a little. Breathe. Be awkward for a second. Be soft for a second. Be YOU.

Because movement brings life into photos.
It turns a picture into a feeling.

Especially with seniors… this season deserves more than perfectly posed images. These are the years full of personality, freedom, confidence, excitement, nervousness, dreams, and becoming. I never want that covered up by stiff posing and forced smiles.

I want your senior session to feel like an experience you actually enjoyed… not something you survived for your mom 😅

And honestly? The best photos usually happen in between everything.
When you stop thinking about the camera.
When your hair moves with the wind.
When your smile sneaks out naturally.
When you forget for one second that photos are even being taken.

Not perfect pictures.
Just you pictures.
