"I take terrible pictures."

She said it before she even walked in.

Not in a self-deprecating, brushing-it-off way — she meant it. She had a folder full of photos that felt staged and stiff. None of them looked like her. And she was about to be back out in the world, presenting herself to people she hadn't met yet.

What she needed wasn't just new photos. She needed images that actually read as her — warm, real, someone worth knowing.

Three things a client said out loud after a dating and branding session — swipe.

Eric came in the way most people do: not expecting a camera to do him any favours. He left having said "it definitely exceeded expectations," and, quietly, "I feel a little bit more confident."

His advice to anyone still circling the idea: go with a professional and trust them, especially if it's something you're struggling with.

We photograph a lot of people who don't like being photographed. That's not the obstacle — it's usually the reason it's worth doing.
