It happens constantly and nobody talks about it.

And it’s not because photographers are being shady. It’s because nobody ever taught us what actually goes into a price. So you do the only thing that feels like research. You find out what everyone else charges and you put yourself somewhere in the middle.

Which is exactly where everyone else landed.

That’s how a whole industry ends up stuck in the same place all wondering why couples only ask about price.

The number is the last thing you figure out. Everyone tries to do it first.

Have you done this? Be honest.😇

All wedding photographers were at some point told told to wear all black and blend in….I show up looking like I belong at the party✌️

“can you just stay a little longer”
I can. it’s $500 an hour 😇

Styled shoots aren’t worth it anymore. That’s what I hear from photographers constantly and I understand why.

When I started, I didn’t have the clients or the weddings I actually wanted. And I didn’t have the portfolio to get them either.

No clients, no work to show, no way forward. A catch-22 with no exit.

Then a friend told me about styled shoots and my mind was opened. You create the images for the gap in your work. They don’t replace real clients. They show a couple what’s possible before you’ve ever done it for someone who pays you.

Styled shoots get a lot of hate and some of it is fair. A lot of them are done with no plan at all. And plenty of photographers pass them off as real weddings which is the part that actually breaks people’s trust.

Mine are creative freedom. I design them, style them, build them, then photograph them. Nobody’s pretending it was a wedding.

It’s creativity with nothing in the way. No timeline, no stress, no holding it together while a family falls apart. It’s a chance for me to play :)

It changed my whole business and allowed me to open doors that were closed to me ❤️

Raising your prices comes last.

Imagine you’re buying a car. The person shopping for a Toyota is not the same person shopping for a Mercedes. They want different things.

The Toyota buyer cares about the price and the gas mileage. The Mercedes buyer cares about the color, the seats, how fast it goes.

The Mercedes buyer is not looking for a Toyota and vice versa. So offering them a cheap Toyota does nothing. They were never even looking at Toyotas.

That’s what positioning is.

When you raised your price, nothing else about you changed. Your website said the same thing. Your bio said the same thing. The same couples kept finding you.

The only difference is that now you cost more.

Sometimes raising your price works right away. If that’s what happened for you, this one isn’t for you. But three months of quiet isn’t a slow season. It’s a sign.

The couples who would say yes still have no idea you exist.

Your price changes last. First you have to show up where they’re already looking.

Being the cheapest is a strategy…we’ve all used it 🙄

You think it makes you seem like a safe pick, a better deal. Because you know how good you are and now you cost less, so the value is off the charts!

But you can’t discount your way to a couple who wasn’t sorting by price to begin with. If you were really worth it, you’d be charging more. And that low price screams risky and “you must be cheap for a reason”.

Once you realize that, you finally understand that you need to make changes because you can’t be the cheapest forever.

That’s we fix in my yearlong mentorship, the $10K Wedding Photographer ❤️ Comment “TENK” and I’ll tell you all about it :)

1. Be known for something.
Try this: could a couple tell their friend about you in one sentence, with no photos? If all they can say is “she takes really nice photos,” you’re not known for anything yet.

2. Show the person, not just the pictures.
Try this: if a couple watched your last ten posts, would they know what you’re like to hang out with? Or would they only know what your photos look like?

3. Be a Ferrari, not a Toyota.
The Toyota is the better car. It’s cheaper, it never breaks, it does everything you need. Nobody dreams about one.
Try this: if a couple wrote you on a list next to three other photographers, would the price be the only real difference? Then you’re a Toyota.

Don’t try to be better than them. Be different enough that they can’t compare you 😉

I hid behind my camera for years and I told myself it was professional.

What I actually believed was that my photos should speak for themselves.

They don’t, not anymore!

Everyone has good photos now. Good photos are the entry fee, not the reason you get booked. A couple scrolling on Instagram can’t tell the difference between the ten photographers they just saw, so they pick the one they feel like they already know.

And here’s the part that everyone knows but nobody says, almost every photographer is terrified of being on camera. So the one thing that would actually set you apart is the one thing nobody is doing.

That’s not a problem, that’s the entire opportunity for you, the photographer that wants to stand out.

Show your face, nobody else is going to ✌️
