A couple of months ago, I picked up a DJI OM-5 stabilization gimbal thinking that I might start doing videos around the city. I found, though, that it's also capable of creating nine-frame (three-by-three) panoramas, and I've been trying to use this feature to its maximum visual advantage. The device's motor broke several weeks ago, so I sent it back to the manufacturer to be replaced or fixed. It came back fixed a couple of days ago, and after a couple of days of test-driving it, I decided to take it down to City Hall, where I might end of spending a lot of time soon. It's an architectural beauty, and well-suited for these wide angle panoramas.

Another 360-degree (unedited) panorama that I took last evening while continuing to test out the PhotoSphere feature of the Google 6a's camera. I hope hope hope that Google will engineer it to include exposure controls as it tends to overexpose in low-light situations. In this case, I think that the initial exposure was of a fairly well-lit scene, so the panorama turned out pretty decent. If the mode had manual exposure settings, I would have underexposed it a bit.

A 360-degree panorama I tried while at Twin Peaks the other day. It took a while to load on my desktop, but it appears Facebook indeed supports 360-degree panoramas.

Laguna at Page

I took a walk to the downtown library to pick up a book I put on hold, then made my way home through Hayes Valley and Lower Haight. I photograph this building almost every time I walk by. It's the Stick design plus the organized mess of the utility wires, I think, that appeals to me... an unusual sort of eye candy. It's a bit sad that two businesses which occupied the building have closed in the past few years... Samovar Tea House and one I can't seem to recall. I'm sure I have photos of it somewhere.

Shortly after last year's inauguration ceremony, Nicole Hayden painted the gorgeous mural of Inaugural Poet Amanda Gorman on the Page Street side of the building.
