From the San Francisco Chronicle:
Commuters hurrying out of San Francisco’s Ferry Building on Tuesday morning were stunned to see the head off the shoulders of the n**e female sculpture towering 45 feet above the Embarcadero Plaza — and a man climbing around in its ribcage.

That man, Marco Cochrane, was there to remove his giant steel mesh artwork after 18 months at the foot of Market Street. The placement of the illuminated sculpture, which Cochrane originally created for the 2015 Burning Man festival, was sponsored by an urban art initiative called the Big Art Loop. Its initial six-month tenure was extended twice but concluded for good this week.

“I should be sad, but I feel strangely OK,” said Cochrane, 63, during a break from disassembly duty atop a crane. “I think it is time for her to go.”

For now, the sculpture is going to Cochrane’s Petaluma warehouse for refurbishing — but its ultimate destination is not yet known. The piece, originally titled “R-Evolution” and recently renamed “I Am,” is on the art market for $5 million. Cochrane claims to have three interested collectors, all of whom were moved by the sculpture’s presence on the waterfront, welcoming ferry and streetcar passengers into the city with open arms. “People feel like she is trying to help,” Cochrane said, “and she is.”
