I've made many Yoga images with in some beautiful places, but this one, made just outside Boulder Colorado at sunset is my favorite. I was drawn to it tonight while thinking about the role Yoga has had in my life. Yoga has been there for me the last couple of months. After losing my practice during the pandemic, I found a way back into it at last this Summer. In practice at home now, and mostly with these two online it's come back to life. There's something about Flo's style of teaching that just really clicked for me. It could be the functional fitness side of things, or the paying attention to strength, or the animal flow, or the meditation and breath work. Whatever *it* is, it's made me stronger and more resilient. I didn't think before I could get that from a YouTube channel. I always enjoyed the intimacy you get by practicing in a real space with others, all focused, but also all together. Looking forward to meeting both Flo and Bri someday in real life. I don't *know* them yet but I'm pretty sure I already trust them. But back to that photo of Liv, and Yoga, and photography, it's about connection and it's about feeling safe. The freedom to be creative and bring an image to life requires trust between both people involved in making the image. The line blurs between who's got the camera and who's making the image. Ultimately it's about being there for the other person and with them. Life is scary, but good things happen when you put your trust in someone else and they return the gift.
