I think it's hard to convey the scale of this eruption when photographed through a telephoto lens, but the close up perspective is mind blowing! This is a single shot long exposure and one of my favorites from our recent and luckily timed trip.

It still amazes me how each image can transport my mind back into these moments. Sitting here against the dock, feeling the texture of the dry wooden planks with a gentle tapping of the waves underneath while the aurora emerged above the still waters and racing clouds. As graceful an entrance as ever.

This was such an unbelievably stunning golden hour from Ryten....one day I'll go back, but for now I'll just lean on this memory. This is partially why I am so religious about always bringing a camera along with me in some form. It's a kind of journal that forces me to go through all the vivid sensory details when translating the raw visual data into the final image.

Finally getting to go through some of the photos from a recent trip to the Lofoten archipeligo in Norway, where we spent around 12 days exploring, getting thrashed by late winter storms, and chasing the northern lights! While around 60-70% of the time it felt like we were stuck between storm cells, the day or two reprieves granted some of the most spectacular landscapes a chance to show off.
