Mother/Child,â¨a group exhibition for Womenâs History Monthâ¨at The Photographerâs Eye Gallery.
Brought together through Donna Cosentinoâs beautiful visionâ¨to place three very different perspectives on motherhoodâ¨in conversation with one another.
Featuring Debe Arlook, Michele Zousmer, and myself.
My own work, drawn from Sanctuary in the Wild,â¨follows my two sons as they immerse in nature,â¨capturing quiet moments of wonder, intimacy, and becoming.
I left feeling deeply moved by Debe Arlook and Michele Zousmer.
Learning about their projectsâ¨and the devotion behind them was a gift and offered much food for thought.
Though our work comes from very different perspectives,â¨we are connected by the many forms of motherhoodâ¨through love, care, protection, creation,â¨and the tending of life.
Debeâs project one, one thousand documents the relationshipâ¨between her sister and her son,â¨âan epileptic who requires constant care,ââ¨revealing extraordinary courage and tenderness.
Micheleâs MIS[S]UNDERSTOOD explores the lives of Irish Traveller women,â¨where mothers hold families togetherâ¨despite deep marginalization.
Both artists have powerful books definitely worth exploring through their Instagram pages.
Three bodies of work.â¨Three very different worlds.â¨One underlying force. Love.
