'I've been a creative and storyteller my entire life. My imagination is my muse, it is the motor that drives my life and purpose, and I am useless to stop it. As with Acting, Music, Writing and Storytelling, my photography work is another extension of my worldly curiosity to find a present images and tell stories
that inspire a moment of calm reflection and mental stillness. We are constantly bombarded with incessant marketing, economic, politics and life pressures. We rarely, if ever, have a moment to shut our brains off and experience stillness. Our minds need peaceful moments of rest throughout the day to operate at our highest level. A FULL MENTAL STOP, resets our mind to a position of clarity and balance.

'Many of my Limited Edition collector clients are high level corporate executives, business professionals, entrepreneurs and business owners. They need clarity and calm when making impactful life and business decisions. Art inspires the imagination to wander, shutting down the mental noise of our day, reduces stress and anxiety while contributing to our mental health. I like to think of it as a short 'thoughtless nap'. Giving our mind a break to wander is directly linked to mental wellness, by inspiring our imagination turn off the mind clutter for moment of restful healing. Art that inspires the imagination, is a mind healer.'

'While working as a professional actor for over 30 years, I learned something new about myself with each character I created, story I told, and every place I explored. Every person we meet has a story. Every place we visit also has a story. As an observer of life and nature, with every photo assignment I take, with each image I capture, the creative challenge is to find that which is not obvious, explore the deep layers, and present our unique relationship with nature and how we experience the world. Photos must tell natures story in moment, without speech, with dignity and respect; too inspire curiosity, ignite the imagination, and create an emotional connection in the minds eye of the viewer is the challenge that excites my eye, and hopefully yours as well.'

Peace,

Marshal

One of my favorite places in North America...

Sedona Arizona

CATHEDRAL ROCK
"HOME OF THE GODS"

Revered as the “Home of the Gods,” and the ancestral birthplace of the first man and woman by the indigenous peoples of the Verde Valley, the mystical spires of Cathedral Rock tower over the painted Sedona landscape along the shoreline of Oak Creek at Red Rock Junction, in the heart of Sedona’s Red Rock State Park.
Over three million years old, sculpted by wind and erosion, the crimson Red Rocks of the Verde Valley are said to create a Vortex energy, feminine in nature, providing feelings of softness, receptiveness and compassion. They are also the spiritual epicenter for the indigenous Paleo, Anasazi, Hopi, Navajo and Sinaqua Indian Tribes, as well as having provided sanctuary for Yavapai and Apache warriors Geronimo and Cochise while fighting to protect their sacred lands during westward expansion and the Tonto-Apache Wars.

With its unique and visually stunning vistas, it was just a matter of time before Hollywood discovered Sedona. By the late 1950s its startling beauty and unique backdrop was presented to the world as producers and movie studios featured Sedona as the setting for over 70 films during the golden years of classic western genre movies.

And on this surreal and spiritually inspiring winters sunset, she indeed lived up to her star billing. Bathed in the desert orange glow of Sedona’s setting sun dancing across her sculpted majestic face, the spirit of Cathedral Rock Sedona thunders ceremoniously, paying tribute to the spirits of creation in this ancestral land, the “Home of the Gods”.

“Nickelodeon”
In 1905, John P. Harris and Harry Davis opened a five-cents-admission movie theater in a Pittsburgh storefront, naming it the Nickelodeon. The Nickelodeon was a small, storefront theater that charged a nickel (hence the name) for admission, and featured short films that were often accompanied by live music or narration.
The 1920s and 1930s are often referred to as the Golden Age of Hollywood, a period of unprecedented growth and success for the movie industry. During this time, movie theaters became increasingly elaborate and luxurious, with ornate decor, comfortable seating, and state-of-the-art projection and sound systems. With their booming popularity these came the rise of the movie palace, a type of theater that was designed to be a destination in and of itself.
During this unprecedented growth the major studios began building their own theaters, effectively controlling the distribution of their products, until the government stepped in suing the major Studios over monopoly concerns. The Paramount Decrees originated with a 1938 lawsuit filed by the DOJ against the major studios, then known as the Big Five (MGM, Paramount, RKO, 20th Century Fox, and Warner Brothers) and the Little Three (Universal, United Artists, and Columbia). According to the DOJ, the Supreme Court found that these studios “had engaged in a wide-spread conspiracy to illegally fix motion picture prices and monopolize both the film distribution and movie theater markets.
As with many of these cultural icons, technology, and how we consume entertainment media, raced by these once State-Of-the-Art social and entertainment movie palaces. Television had become a more affordable and exciting home entertainment option prolonging the decrease in ticket sales. And with the rise of digital technologies, many of these icons have disappeared, only rarely seen in the old classic films produced during Hollywood's golden years.
"la reina del cine” - The Movie Queen
Built in 1948 The Mission Theater in Fallbrook California lasted for decades, remaining in operation, screening movies into the 1970’s. But like most movie houses, it struggled to survive, fell into disrepair, and eventually closed. During its lifetime, the theater hosted first run films such as Barbara Stanwyck starring in the 1954 film, Cattle Queen of Montana doubled billed with Loretta Young starring in The Farmer’s Daughter. It remained in operation screening movies into the 1970’s.
Thankfully this old beauty was saved from the wrecking ball with respect, love and admiration for her place in history. Three hundred seats strong, and fully refurbished to her original glory, she now hosts theatre productions, live concerts, classic films, musicals and live comedy, as she stakes her undesputed claim as Fallbrook’s Arts and Cultural entertainment center. Thank you Roy Moosa for your vision and commitment to cinema, and preserving the icons of Hollywood’s Golden Age.

An Ancient Oak Tree speaks loudly. With their twisted elegance creating a protective canopy for safe passage, they whisper of an ancient life. These massive oaks are a beautiful reminder of our mortal insignificance, how small we are in the scope of nature.

Every time I traverse this amazing tunnel I can’t help but wonder the stories they could tell if they could speak, and imagine the faces of the indigenous peoples and explorers that must have also been in awe of their splendor. But within their immense strength so too lies their vulnerability to nature. Weeks prior a wildfire ravaged this valley as it burned its way to the Malibu coast. With embers flying for miles many of these great giants were lost forever. Others such as these, managed to withstand natures fury and survived to continue whispering their story and inspire our imagination. This was my first visit after the fire burned through this valley. I was anxious on my walk wondering if my old friends would be there to greet me. Rounding the corner, and upon seeing them my heart swelled, knowing that they were still standing, vigilantly, offering me safe passage on my life’s path as an Ancient Oak Tree whispers its ancient story once again.
