StrayShots - Photography by Frank Rodrick

StrayShots - Photography by Frank Rodrick Photography was a pain until digital. Now any idiot can do it. See? Everybody's a photographer now. By a drunk, probably.

Look at any page and you'll see lots and lots of pictures. . .nasty, grainy, blurry pictures taken with a cellphone. So, I like to bring a decent camera and some fast lenses into a bar to get some decent performance shots of a band. Lately I've been bringing a camcorder, too--a moderately high-end one that does a slightly better job than a cellphone. I'm on a mission to raise the quality of bar band pages!

"We're hungry! Where's Dad?"
"I hate him. He's probably hogging the whole fish to himself."

This is the most we got here in San Diego. I apologize for cutting off the bottom of the moon (see?) but I'd swear we can see rough edges of the moon and a little solar flare on the far right side.

Family portraits? I don't think so. As soon as one chick raised it's head, another dropped out of sight. But I'm sure there were at least three chicks with Mom and Dad in this nest above the baseball diamond at Robb Field.

I shot a live show! Well, a little. Mostly I took photos outside, which is much easier on my aching ears. But it was a fun night: Randi Driscoll's Jingle Jam with lots of friends at Humphrey's Backstage.

I'm too lazy to actually go out and hunt for birds, but they're pretty good about dropping by my backyard.

Another fabulous show by the Songbirds of Ramona Ranch. . .at . . .where else? Ramona Ranch Vineyard and Winery. Hosted by Ashley E. Norton and featuring Stacy Antonel and Lindsay White, the wine was great and the music even better. Well worth the hour's drive from San Diego--check out the page and make the next event!

I got to photograph the winners at the San Diego Music Awards this year. Always a fun time to catch people when they're happy and maybe a little dazed. Tag anyone you know!

A short video of my new underage neighbors without a stitch of clothing at my hot tub. (Hey, that ought to get me flagged.)

A litter of squirrels finally decided to come out and see the world.
