Four years ago.

Sometimes I get so focused on what I’m creating next that I forget to look back at what I’ve already created.

The shoots.
The people.
The places.
The moments that only existed for a few seconds—but somehow became permanent when I pressed the shutter.

Photography has given me a front-row seat to so many chapters of other people’s lives. Confidence. Transformation. Celebration. Vulnerability. Strength.

And every once in a while, I need to go back through the archives and remind myself that I was there for those moments too.

I didn’t just take the picture.

I got to be part of the moment.

Let’s talk about comfort zones for a minute.

Lately, I’ve had the opportunity to photograph some incredible people—people who train hard, sacrifice, and ask a lot from themselves physically.

But what made some of these shoots different was this:

They didn’t necessarily feel like they were at their “best.”

Not stage lean.
Not peak week ready.
Not necessarily where they wanted to be physically.

And they still showed up.

As a photographer, it’s easy for me to say, “Just shoot. Trust me.” I’m behind the camera. I’m not the one standing in front of it feeling exposed.

And I understand that for competitors, the offseason can be complicated.

You spend so much time chasing the next level of your physique that sometimes it becomes difficult to appreciate the body you have when the lines soften and the stage conditioning disappears.

But your physique isn’t only worth documenting when you’re peeled.

The offseason is part of the story too.

The growth.
The strength.
The curves.
The size.
The work nobody sees before the final package is revealed.

Maybe every photoshoot doesn’t have to be about capturing the “best version” of you.

Sometimes it’s simply about capturing this version of you.

Because this season deserves to exist in your story too.

Thank you to all who trust me to capture these moments.

Apparently summer said, “I’m not done yet.”

And judging by these temperatures… we believe it.

One last stretch of long days, warm nights, beach shoots and sunsets before fall officially takes over.

Might as well make the most of it.

Not every chapter has to be about the struggle.

Some are about finally enjoying the person you’ve become.

Feeling good.

Taking up space.

Turning the confidence all the way up… just because you can.

And maybe creating a few photographs your future self will look back at and say…

Some memories deserve a little attitude.

We have a habit of waiting for the version of ourselves we think deserves to be remembered.

After the next goal.

After a little more progress.

When the timing finally feels right.

But somewhere along the way, we forget that life is happening now.

This chapter matters too.

Not because everything is finished.

Not because you’ve reached some imaginary version of perfect.

But because who you are today is part of the story of who you’re becoming.

Years from now, you may look back and realize…

This was never about finally being ready for the photograph.

It was about realizing you were always worthy of the memory.
