Last Friday I had the honor to speak for an auditorium at City College filled with high school students from the San Diego school district. Not my usual crowd, but all these students were passionate about photography and what a great audience they were! I talk about pet photography (obviously!) and how it definitely is a real job, gave some tips on how to get started and told some anecdotes about what it takes to get the images that really show the pet’s personality.

Afterwards we had a short demo with a small group of students where sweet Betty Lou showed us how to be a perfect model!

Honestly I was a little nervous because it’s been a minute since I did any public speaking, but it was so much fun and hopefully some more of these opportunities will find their way to me☺️

So here’s some quick shots I took of Betty Lou to get the students started! Isn’t she perfect? 🥹

As a pet photographer, I love to spend my free time at the and take pictures of the pets looking for a home. It’s wonderful to do something that feeds my soul while also giving back to the community 🥰 Good pictures really do help get these cuties adopted faster.

I don't think it comes as a surprise to anyone that I am a big fan of photographing cats? But did you know that in order to do so, I come to your house? I actually wrote a blog about why I chose to do this, because it for sure isn't the easiest solution for myself! But hey, you gotta to work to get amazing pet portraits so I love it regardless☺️

Okay, I confess. I have gotten bad at social media! Or just forgetful, I'd say. Did you know that to have behind-the-scenes footage you actually need to record that footage? Well, guess who is too busy concentrating to remember 🙋‍♀️ I'm trying to get better at it again, but it might take a while before I don't drive off after a shoot and go "dang, that would have made for great BTS material!"🥲 If any other photographers have tips for me to keep up with social media, shoot! Because I need a better methodology than winging it🥴

Anyway, please enjoy the cutest floppy ears. I know they've made my day🥰

I don't think I've ever shared a bird on here before. I think that is because I don't often photograph birds. In fact, I think this is the only bird I have ever photographed - except from birds out in nature, that is. And I'm not even sure about that... Anyway! If anyone has a bird that needs some cool headshots done, I'm here for it! Because, just to be clear, I do like birds.
Fun fact for you even: when I was a kid I had a pet rooster. His name was Harry (because I was 11 in the early 2000's) and he was the best.

Calypso and Pandora invited me over for a portrait session in their home and immediately took over.

Calypso claimed the lap. Pandora claimed the shoulder. Together they claimed the camera like true professionals. Or should I say 'purrfessionals'?😏

Staying in a Spring theme with some more flowers! 🌼

My favorite flowers are Gerbera Daisies, which is lucky for me because they're also cat-friendly! What are yours?

It's the official first day of Spring today! 🌸

Let me tell you that it is very bizarre living in SoCal when you've never lived in a place where there were just two seasons. Belgium wasn't the most season-y country either but San Diego sure is something else. Seeing blooming flowers year-round is very new to me, but I like it a lot!

In this pet photo session the mother-daughter duo absolutely stole the show! Luckily, Mike didn't mind sharing his spotlight ☺️

I love it when people voluntarily want to be in the pictures with their pet, that way I don't have to force them 😇
-joking of course, 𝗵𝗼𝘄𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 I do always highly recommend joining your pet in at least a couple of pictures. Just so they exist, you know.
