Photography tip!

When families ask me to do portraits for them, I always want to include more than just smiling at the camera. This sweet girl is getting love from her parents with kisses on the cheek. When you do your sessions, think about other ways you can capture stunning images. Get them to walk and swing their daughter in the air or even pictures of mama fixing her daughters hair or
bow. Sometimes those spontaneous images are the best!

To all of my wedding couples:

I just want to take a moment to tell you how sorry I am you're having to navigate rescheduling your entire wedding. I know this is the last thing any of us could have planned for and my heart just breaks for you.

I want you to know that once this is all over your wedding day will be just as beautiful, memorable, and special as it would have been on its original date.

Remember that even though you won't be married on the day you desired you still get to look forward to a lifetime with the person who you are vowing to spend forever with. My hope for you during this time is that you can bask in the extra time together and come out of this even stronger and more excited for the rest of your lives together.

One of my favorite moments during a family session is where I pull mom and dad aside and get some shots of just them.
In some cases, they may not have had professional images of just them since their wedding day! Seeing the way they look at one another, embrace, watch as their children play off to the side - a look of happiness and just a touch of remembering them younger and realizing how fleeting their childhood really is and then looking back to one another knowing they'll have the other to lean on in the years ahead.
It's a beautiful moment and I'm grateful to catch it.

I know so many brides have been in a tailspin trying to reschedule your entire wedding due to the current circumstances our world is in and I want you to know that I see you.
I see you worrying about deposits, aligning new dates with your venue and vendors, redoing save the date pictures on your own, rearranging one of the most special days of your life.
I want you to know that your day is going to be incredible. It may not be the original date, it may look a little different than you imagined, but the core of the day will be exactly the same. You will be marrying the love of your life and that is something worth waiting for.
Take a deep breath. Grab your coffee and your to-do list, you've got this!

3 tips for your next family session:

1 - Have everyone dress in something they're comfortable in. If it's too far from your norm you won't feel comfortable and that always comes across in the camera.
2 - Eat a light snack before your session, this is especially for the kiddos. You don't want anyone hangry at your session. Pack a couple snacks, like a granola bar, just in case.

3 - Plan to arrive 10 minutes early. This will allow some time for your kiddos to get the ants in their pants wiggled out and for you to have some breathing room instead of feeling rushed.
