Notes on living in Pasadena so far:

People here seem genuinely super friendly. (Everyone smiles and says hi/good morning)

There are bears??? They come down from the mountains in our area and eat trash

Also- the parrots?? They’re so cool and green but their screech is not fun sounding lol

We can walk everywhere and I feel like we live in Europe when we walk a couple blocks to coffee or dinner

Not mad about the weather here

There are so many trees

Really love how much easier the drive is to Santa Barbara considering how many weddings/elopements I have there this year

Our house and yard are huge and I can’t figure out what to do with all the space after living in 800 square feet with no yard

LA seems to attract really creative people which makes me really happy

So many people work in the entertainment industry. Normal conversations go like: “where do you work?” “Oh I work as a videographer on the set of love is blind!”

Side note: saw these two recently (❤️) and wanted to throw back to this set from their engagement on 35mm film

Moving away from one of my favorite places on earth wasn’t part of the plan but like most things, plans change! After some unemployment, Paul got a job in Pasadena and it was pretty obvious we needed to move! My work is super flexible so it just made sense!

I’m thinking of doing a few mini session days in the late summer/fall if there’s interest so I’ll be doing some polls later for that!

Otherwise I’ll just be charging a small travel fee to San Diego moving forward unless I already will be in the area.

Good news for all my Santa Barbara peeps- I’m way closer to you now 🙌

Anyway, we’re moving this week and I’m having lots of feelings but at the end of the day excited for a new adventure with the boys and with my business! LA has always been really creatively inspiring for me and I can’t wait to see where my work goes from here!

Hey it’s me! Just a little self portrait series on 35mm film.

Feels like a pretty accurate representation of life right now. Joyful, crazy, wild, and changing by the minute. I’ll share some of the changes happening over here another time (not pregnant) but really thankful this crazy season in our lives coincides with my slow season for work!

Side note- also really enjoying experimenting with multiple exposures and long exposures on film and they just hit different. BUT I did have a couple film duds from this series - posting those on my stories today. 🤭

Guess what.

Second summer officially beginning. My favorite time of the year. Waters warm, tourists are gone, kids are back in school, the sun is out, and my birthday is just a couple weeks away.

Also, here are a couple of my favorite frames from my first roll of film through my Nikonos V. The light meter was broken and my first try with meter focus but I think I did pretty good. Who wants to jump in with me before it gets freezing again??

Jenny and Tom get married this Saturday in Santa Barbara and I CAN’T WAIT.

This engagement session feels like a lifetime ago and the anticipation is REAL.

Two weeks after Natalie and Phil first started dating in college, Natalie moved to England to study abroad.

Phil then sold all his camera gear and almost missed his midterm to fly to England to see Natalie for two days. That was 15 years ago and on Saturday they had the most beautiful wedding in the desert surrounded by family and friends.

As you might know, it gets hot as ball$$ in the desert but on Natalie and Phil’s wedding day, there was a light cool breeze and pleasantly warm sunshine.

I’ll be forever thankful that I get to tell your stories.
