I recently had the opportunity to come together with some incredible talent to make this Mother Earth concept come to life! It's been quite a while since I was able to really invest my time and energy into a passion project like this, so it felt great to just create and have fun with everyone involved.
I was inspired after spending a day visiting all of the San Antonio Missions! All of the crumbling walls and memories of the life that used to exist here, surrounded by nature that has been there for hundreds of years even before the Missions were ever built. It just kept reminding me of Mother Nature in all of her whimsy and beauty! I knew that I wanted to portray her feminine power and it was clear that Mission Espada was the best place to do so. From the lush greenery to the textures and colors of the old crumbling walls, I don't think we could have picked a better spot. We also got incredibly lucky with the most perfect golden hour lighting!
So with all of that said, I would first like to shoutout our incredible model Madyson (mady_marti on IG) for absolutely serving in this summer heat! She is always so fantastic to work with and in addition to being so open to new concepts, she also brings her own ideas, poses and vibes that help elevate the shoot in ways that I couldn't just on my own. Not to mention - this was her first time ever getting professional hair and makeup done so this was a huge transformation for her!
Additionally, I also want to shoutout and send a huge thank you to our hair and makeup artist Stephanie Eiland (BHAVA_hmua on IG) who is always so wonderful to work with! Her talent really took this project far beyond what I could have imagined for it. And even through all of the heat, humidity, and sweat that makeup did not budge one bit and the hair never fell flat! Truly a top tier hair and makeup artist.
And lastly, you know I couldn't do it without Isaac Stafford (isaac_analog on IG) shooting by my side! Until we started shooting together, I never realized how great it is to have someone I can bounce ideas off and trade spots with when my camera hand gets tired! Y'all be sure to check out his IG to see more from this shoot, I promise you're gonna want to see what he did with it ππΈπ
