Proof of Life.

Pompeii was buried in volcanic ash in 78 AD and abandoned. In later years it was looted occasionally. Eventually a pasta maker built a water channel nearby in the 16th century. Modern archaeological excavation started in the 20th century and is ongoing today.

For this set I wanted to include photos with the tourists. The juxtaposition of 2,000+ year old architecture and the humans of the 21st century walking around makes me imagine what city buildings and city centers that we use today will become the next Pompeii 2,000 years from now.

Although it is shrouded in the tragic events of the eruption, humans are rediscovering this city and bringing it to life again.
