I had the pleasure of photographing this wonderful family at Confluence Park over the weekend. They have been visiting this park for some time and knew they wanted a portrait done at this specific location. A session full of smiles and laughs, we all had a great time. I love capturing these moments and so happy they enjoyed it too.

So I've been in the process of using off camera flash and wanted to show some pics on building the shot.

Here Luna is in front of my monstera named "momma" on a camping chair. I then exposed for ambient light that i liked and finally added my off camera flash. My Godox ad200pro is in a 34" EZ lock beauty dish with diffuser. I had my Nikon d610 with godox x2t attached and my 70-200mm lens.

1st image- Pullback image of setup. Beauty dish camera left. Camera is missing but opposite Luna.

2nd image- First image taken and obviously too bright. 1/8th power on the ad200. Focal length 86mm, 1/200 sec, f/3.2, iso 320.

3rd image is SOOC. I reduced to 1/64th power, all other setting stayed the same. Although she was sitting less than 2 minutes she got bored and was done.

Since I lost my model I brought the image into lightroom and cropped in, eliminated stray hair, lowered exposure by half a stop, reduced contrast, highlights, and blacks, brought up shadows and whites. Increased temp, decreased clarity added a slight vignette. Brought up saturation in red and green. Brightened eyes, that led to the final image. Still in a learning process but hope it might help someone who's learning OCF. 🙂

I often get asked about what kind of gear I use, what I started out with, any favorite must haves, and info on what to use for different types of photography. As a photographer I can say enough is never enough, but here is a peak of what I keep in my camera bag, plus some must haves I take during ou...

This Halloween Session was awesome. We met up at McAllister Park and I snapped away while the kids enjoyed being stars in front of the camera. Super fun hanging with these kiddos! 🤩

Capturing Senior Portraits is such a pleasure. I met up with Jason at West Guth Park and had a blast. Jason chose this park because it's tied to loving memories of him and his family and what a great way to celebrate his achievement! I have a huge soft spot for park days and the memories that come with it too. I want to say thanks to Jason for this shoot and your memories that you shared! Can't wait for your cap and gown shoot!! 😍
