Tozzer anthropology Building at Harvard University. So excited I got to finally see this and get a better glimpse into the parametric layout of the brick facade. Beautiful design by Kennedy & Violich!

So excited to finally see this building after years of studying it. Simmons Hall by is a very striking building with bold colors, reflective surfaces, and a facade that plays a beautiful game with light and shadow. What’s even more interesting is the care in detailing and integrating all of the elements most people try to hide like Metal Panel Fasteners and waterproofing. This was a special thing to experience, even if it was only the exterior.

There’s something timeless about reading rooms in libraries. They always feel as sacred as a cathedral, connected as town halls, and collegiate as lecture rooms. The McKim building designed by McKim, Meade, and White, is one of the most beautiful examples of this. There’s always something to be learned from buildings that take time to build. I loved walking through this area.
